    AWARDS AND HONOURS

    • I was awarded a full merit-based scholarship to study for MSc. in Nuclear Science, at the Institute of Nuclear science, by the University of Nairobi in 1998. The scholarship was renewed for the second (final) academic year having successfully finished first year of study.
    • I was nominated to the Dean's Honours List as well as awarded a cash prize of Ksh. 8,000 after obtaining a mean score of grade A in the fourth year of study (1997/98 academic year).
    • I was awarded full tuition fees in fourth year of study after obtaining a mean score of grade A in the 1996/97 academic year (3rd year) by the University.
    • Best student in Chemistry in K.C.S.E exams at Ramba Sec. School in 1992.

    WORK HISTORY

    • Instructor at the Informatics Section of the Institute of Nuclear Science, University of Nairobi since June 2001.
    • Worked as a research assistant in the Environmental Division of the Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA)-Kisumu. My assignment involved collection and chemical analysis of water samples from the rivers within the lake basin region from February to May 1996.
    • Has also been assisting with the consultancy services in the Energy Dispasive X-Ray Fluorecence Analytical services and air pollution assessment at the Institute, where I was mainly involved in trace elements analysis of environmental samples as well as assisting undergraduate students, both from the University of Nairobi and other colleges with their laboratory and field analysis.
    • Taught Chemistry in form three and Physics in form one at Barkowino Secondary School in Siaya District from May to August 1995 when I was on vacation.

    FIELD EXPERIENCE

Kenya Marine & Fisheries Research Institute

I was attached to the Institute immediately after fourth year (from May - August 1998). My assignment involved collection and chemical analysis of water samples from the rivers within the Lake Victoria catchment area and from the Lake itself.

During the attachment, I also participated in the Kenya Belgium Joint research in Lake Victoria in the months of June and July as part of the KMFRI research team. In line with this, I attended a safety at sea training organised by the European Union experts for a week.

I have also participated in a number of air pollution and atmospheric science studies at the University of Nairobi where my main duties have been sampling and data recording, analysis and report writing.

    FUTURE OBJECTIVES

My main future objective is to be involved in atmospheric science research, especially air pollution, climate change and agrometeorological studies. I would therefore wish to further my studies in any of these areas.
