Having vowed not to leave the hotel unattended, Morolake and Oronike insisted on getting a tour guide.  After Cheryl called and haggled over the price, we secured a guide.  In the meantime we braved the streets outside the hotel alone.  We met some street vendors who spoke English and walked with us.  We found an internet cafe around the corner and checked our e-mails.  After that we returned to the hotel to meet the guide.  Morolake and Oronike went to put the things that mommy had bought upstairs but were stopped on the way by a man asking, "Are you Cheryl?"  This is how we met our guide, friend, and angel from heaven: Go Ivan Wade.
We all got in the van and were on our way.  Go gave us the history of Senegal as we passed Independence Square and headed to the Presidential Palace.
We were all taken with the beauty and vibrancy of the land and people of Dakar.
We went to the craft market, and to the Gateway to the New Millenium; a park in the city.
We went from there to the University Cheik Anta Diop of Dakar.
Tired from the tour, a little off balance from the time change, and hungry for some good food, we stopped and ate at VSD restaurant.  The food was WONDERFUL!! SO much better from the food in the hotel.
