| Brass Furniture | ||||||
| Brass beds, tables and mirrors can add warmth to a room. Remember, though, that not all brass furniture is solid. Check the label. Genuine brass is solid all the way through. Examine the piece for strength and solidity in the joints. Feel the surface for smoothness and look for a little variation in color and texture. Brass plate, on the other hand, is a thin layer of brass applied over metal by a coating of yellow toned lacquer, and it may chip off. Real brass needs only to be rubbed occasionally to keep its patina beautiful. A clear coat of lacquer can also be applied for protection. - Linda Betz |
