When will it rain? the backs of slaves are scarred, and lips are cracked, a thousand voices ask, When will it rain? a mother beats her breast for the child who wasn't worth saving. racked with sobs and chest heaving, cries When will it rain? a man with three kids, a wife, a mortage, and a decrepit old dog coughs through the factories black smog When will it rain? a child who dreams of a life with out nightmares, or at least when he opens his eyes the nightmare dies, prays When will it rain? a girl who feels the weight of control, the burden of obligation, waits for the new life that the rain will bring, the washing away of past sins When will it rain? the world in ceaseless unrest, in tyranny, under stone throwers and bridge burners wonders When will it rain? |
