About Me

I'm Dan. I am a recent graduate of the University of Florida. At this time I'm living in Gainesville, Florida and looking on to the future. My major is Computer and Information Science, so my long term goal involves a career involving information technology. However, since the industry is not what it used to be, I am pursuing other options. Thankfully, computers are not all that I am about, so I'm open to a wide range of options.

I am also somewhat of an artist. I'm not as good as some people I know, but I've done things with cartooning, painting, pencil drawing, and even clay modeling. My more recent projects have included making my own greeting cards for friends and family. I am really big on playing with computer graphics as well. My strongest artistic suit is photography, both digital and film.

I also find writing and literature quite interesting. My current project is what should be my first completed novel. I've written quite a few short stories for publishing on the internet (some are better than others) and have one poem published in Imprints 2000. Until recently I've been limiting myself to journal writing in order to improve my methods. My current reads include John Grisham, Douglas Adams, and J.R.R. Tolkien.

I also like active activities like biking, volleyball, tennis, camping, swimming, foosball, weight lifting (don't laugh), canoeing, snorkeling, running around like crazy, and so on--as long as I have energetic and eager people to do it with. Also, when I say "I like long walks on the beach", I'm not kidding. Among all outdoor settings, I do like the seashore the best.

At ages 11-13 I was involved with Boy Scouts for a bit, but I dropped that when the troop I was in wasn't doing much. After high school graduation, I got involved with the youth ministries at Solid Rock Bible Church, eventually given responsibilities and the opportunity to work (and play) with kids. I've enjoyed it very much, and have had the privilege of knowing so many great kids and somehow offering inspiration for their lives. I hope to get back into that sort of thing someday as the Lord leads me through open doors.
