Dream::   music?

Okay this is a bizarre dream and I do not know if it was just one dream or many that I had last night but they were horrid and I woke up screaming and drenched in sweat.

The dream begins at a combined high school college and graduate school reunion and there are classmates of mine from long ago. They are all there with their husbands and children and I am there alone. Then all of these people climb up onto a swinging board and then the chains holding the board break and the board starts to fall and this woman falls off the board and instead of trying to help, I run the other way so as not to get hit by the board ... everyone is looking at me and laughing that I am all alone. Then the next scene I am meeting with Richard Chamberlain (as the Priest in the Thorn Birds) and he is on death row in the cell next to my college boyfriend. My old boyfriend is about to be executed for a murder that he did not commit and I know that he did not do it since I was the real murderer but no one will listen to me and he is killed. I have not seen this ex in over 12 years. What does this mean?

.nikki.'s interpretation::

It sounds like it could be three dreams. It depends on what you felt as you were dreaming. What I get is that maybe you feel you may not have succeeded in life as the rest of your schooling mates. Maybe you assume that is what they all have, and you don't, or if you do, it is not as fulfilling as you imagine it to be fulfilling them. The grass is greener on the other side, basically. The board that you described sounds like a swing, but chains can represent strength in unity, or what binds us. We are only as strong as our weakest link. A swing could be a time when you were carefree. Were they up above you swinging? This means that you view others as above you in raising a family, achieving goals. The woman represents a part of you that you want to change, to get rid of. You know it may hurt you to change your perceptions, so you run, avoiding it. Everyone laughing at you that you're all alone is just a stronger clue into that you view yourself as not good enough.

It could also be that you feel you lack support from your friends and family, and 'if they won't help you, why should you help them?' thoughts have crossed your mind.

Richard Chamberlain as his role in the "Thorn Birds" shows you that there is a personality trait you relate to. The fact that it is specific to a role would be something to look into. "Thorn" is something that could cause pain, if touched. It is protective, something you do with yourself a lot. You desire to be free from this "birds" are a symbol of freedom. Flight = goals you are acheiving. His role as a Priest could be a symbol of righteousness. Of spirituality, religion. Have you been meaning to go to church, but it makes you feel bound? Imprisoned? Do you go to church, but the religion you tend to is no longer as lively in your soul? Just waiting on death row? Dive deeper into your dream.

We usually dream on average, three dreams a night. So this next one could be a third dream, or the symbolism of imprisonment really relates to you at this time in life. Imprisonment is self-punishment. A way to deal with a guilt we harbor in our mind. Since you had not seen this ex in over 12 years, it may not relate directly to him. Yet if it did, it may be you feel you two broke up, did he say it was over?, but say you two broke up because he said it was over, it could be that you wanted to break up, but didn't know how. So, you just portrayed traits that he would dislike, so he would end the relationship. Yet, it could've been the other way around, and your dreaming self was trying to get his perspective on the situation. There may have been a communication problem between you two (no one will listen to me).

If it wasn't about him, abstractly it could be that you feel guilty for something you did that someone else was punished for.

Since you woke up sweating and screaming, it is a very powerful situation, or event, that haunts you.

Dreamer's Response to interpretation::

Wow - that was very on target. I have had a lot of success in my career but not in terms of getting married and raising a family - I feel that everyone is passing me by while I am stagnating. The interpretation was very powerful and I need to do some thinking. Thank you again.
