TV Show: Captain Planet and the Planeteers/The New Adventures of Captain Planet
Voice Actresses: Meg Ryan and Mary Kay Bergman
Group Affiliation: None (although an Eco-Villain)
First Appearance in Series: "Deadly Ransom" (at least according to videotaping the show when it first appeared in 1990)
Weapons: MAL, her super computer, capable of carrying out many deadly environmental tasks; any of her crazy experiments
Strengths: Very intelligent scientist, not afraid to take on the enemy
Weaknesses: Depends too much on MAL at times and has a little crush on him, too.
Favorite Aspect: That white streak of hair across her left eye (Can you guess why it's there?)!
Favorite Quote: "I have some genetic experiments I'd like to try." ("Summit to Save Earth-Part 2")
Favorite Episodes about Character: "Deadly Ransom," "Tree of Life,""Heat Wave," "Mission to Save Earth-Parts One and Two," and too many others to mention where her science gets involved!
Why I like Dr. Blight: Dr. Blight certainly has a way with science, and it's all bad! When the show started, I wondered why the mad doctor had a white streak of hair over her left eye. When I got the action figure, I learned what had happened. In trying to create the perfect human, she tried some experiments on herself, resulting in some serious scarring on her face. She's put some of the greatest names of science to complete shame with some of the craziest and most dangerous experiments, including acquiring the powers of Earth from the "Tree of Life," creating evil duplicates of the Planeteers' rings in both parts of the "Mission to Save Earth," causing the greenhouse effect on Hope Island in the "Heat Wave," and so many others that she'd need a page of her own just to journal all those experiments and failures. Whereas most scientists try to do their work for the benefit of mankind, she'd rather do it for herself and to destroy mankind! She's vile and wicked, and there's no reason why she could ever be kind. Not to say I'm a bad person myself, but there's just something about a wicked woman that I like, basically her attitude!
Questions about Dr. Blight: In the episode "Hog Tide," the singer's name was Betty Blight. In another episode, "Hollywaste," Dr. Blight's younger sister is named Bambi. In that same episode, Bambi referred to the doctor as Babs. Honestly, is that really Dr. Blight's first name!?!?
Here is some new speculation about Dr. Blight's life, courtesy of Planet_Fan: Dr. Blight was undoubtedly the best looking villain on the series, and Looten Plunder was the most handsome. Could Blight and Plunder have had some kind of close and personal relationship, or will the world never know?
MAL said, "The other vixens are waiting, Doctor!"
