I would hardly class myself as a Linux expert, however I have around a decade of experience in computing, and this is the sort of tool I have longed for when the proverbial has hit the fan (always thanks to me). Since the tool is currently Linux command line based there are many people that would never even think of using this tool.
To use Partslist all you need to be familiar with is running commands from a text-based terminal window/session. For example you may want to take a snapshot of your currently good partition table, store it in a safe place and if ever the day comes that your partition table is corrupted either provide the snapshot to an expert user to rebuild your partition table using perhaps Partsedit or use Partsfix with the snapshot yourself and fix the the problem hence leaving the expert alone until either the snapshot is lost or out of date.
A note of warning though, as Partsedit currently stands the user is in ultimate control, anything that is ordered will be done. The reason for this supreme control is to ensure when the partition table becomes in some way corrupt the tool will not prevent the user from performing certain changes either because the change is not considered correct or because the tool can't handle the current table.
