Robert W. Wiedman, 79, Watchung resident
Robert William Wiedman, 79, of Watchung, died Tuesday, July 23, 2002 at Overlook Hospital in Summit.

Born in Newark, Mr. Wiedman had resided in Denville before mov ing to Watchung 40 years ago.

He was an agent for the Equitable Life Assurance Society of New York for 36 years, retiring in 1984.

Mr. Wiedman attended Rutgers University in New Brunswick. He was an Army veteran of World War II, reaching the rank of sergeant, receiving the Bronze Star medal and five battle stars in the European the ater of operations.

He was a member of Wilson Memorial Union Church in Watchung and a member of the Optimist International Club. having received the lifetime membership award. He served as president of the Plainfield section from 1952 to 1953 and the Watchung section from 1972 to 1973.

Mr. Wiedman enjoyed softball and had played until age 60. He also enjoyed golf, fishing, singing in the choir and performing in musicals.

Surviving are his wife. Lydie V. Pecqueur Wiedman, three Sons, Lance Wiedman and his wife, Anne, Gary Wiedman and his wife, Robin, and Marc Wiedman, one daughter. Lynne Casternovia and her husband, Samuel; one brother, Alan Wiedman and his wife, Barbara: and three grandchildren.

Arrangements were by Higgins Home for Funerals in Watchung.
