Note: If you have any questions or concerns about these rules, you must contact the President prior to the start of the League.
SHUFFLEBOARD RULES
1. All games are fifteen points unless specified otherwise prior to the night of play.
2. Short foul line rule in effect. All weights must cross first foul line or is automatically removed from the board.
3. If there is no score in a frame, the hammer switches.
4. If leading weights in a frame are tied, (regardless of whether there are any other weights on the board) there is no score and the hammer changes.
5. Any weights in question will judged by team captains in deciding which weight takes the point(s).
6. Any weights in danger of falling off the end of the board may be made safe by the captain of the opposing team at the request of the players involved. If a weight is made safe, any weight of the opposite color which subsequently outdistances it will not count. (You cannot outlag this four). Weights on the side of the board cannot be made safe. If a weight falls off the side other than legally being knocked off, must be placed in the same spot (as close as possible).
7. You may wax dry spots on the rails up to the foul line out of the container only. Free waxing is not allowed. First offense will receive a warning. Second offense results in the loss of two points. Third offense is forfeiture of game with the score of 15-0. You may wax the end you are shooting from at any time you are shooting. If you wish for the opposite end rails to be waxed, this can only be done between frames.
8. No drinks, cigarettes, or other foreign objects in hands or mouth while shooting. First offense will receive a warning. Second offense results in the loss of two points. Third offense is forfeiture of game with the score of 15-0.
9. Away team gets choice of color or hammer at the start of the first game. The remaining choice will the opponent�s option. In the remaining games, the loser of the previous game receives the hammer or choice in color and this cycle continues.
10. If the player that has the hammer shoots first, they lose that privilege for that frame and complete the frame in that rotation.
11. Weights for league play must be available 24 hours prior to league match. A team is allowed to use their own weights provided their weights are available 24 hours prior to league match.
12. Players may go to the opposite end of the board to examine the position of the weights.
13. No coaching is allowed to a player that is shooting except by partner or team captain (co-captain in absence of captain). This applies to all events. First offense will receive a warning. Second offense results in the loss of two points. Third offense is forfeiture of game with the score of 15-0.
14. All league boards should be kept cleaned and sprayed to allow for consistent play and practice each week.
15. All players must show respect for the players who are shooting. No yelling or unsportsmanlike conduct during shooting. First offense will receive a warning. Second offense results in the loss of two points. Third offense is forfeiture of game with the score of 15-0.
16. If the weight you are shooting at has wax on the side which may result in a mush hit, then the shooter may have the opposing captain wipe the weight off and respot.
17. No tampering with, or altering weights, wax, or board. First offense will receive a warning. Second offense is forfeiture of game with the score of 15-0.
18. Maximum of one meeting in the middle of the board per frame.
19. Home team will have the use of the board from 6:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Away teams will have the use of the board from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. All times are actual time and not bar time.
20. Any player not present when play begins will be given a 15 minute grace period. After 15 minutes expire, automatic forfeiture of game 15-0. After match commences the grace period is 5 minutes between games. After 5 minutes, automatic forfeiture of game 15-0.
21. All decisions agreed upon both captains are final and unopen for appeal. If a decision cannot be agreed upon by both captains will be determined by the grievance committee. All decisions made by the grievance committee are final and unopen for appeal.
22. Once a sub is put in, the player being substituted cannot return to that game for play.
23. Games will consist of a total of 12 points. One point for each win, and one extra point for totals in each event.
24. If games cannot be played that night, games must be made up. Automatic points cannot be assessed. Make up games must occur within 3 weeks.
25. If there are any grievances or protests, the President of the league must be contacted within 48 hours of end of the game being protested.
26. Rosters must be submitted by the second week of play. Any changes in rosters must be called in to the league Secretary 24 hours prior to match play.
27. Maximum of 10 players per roster.
