PLATOON LEADER NOTES

This is OC Ambrose (Alex), I am the acting platoon leader for this month. I just wanted to thank and applaud everyone for all the pre-drill logistical work that went on throughout the month. I thought all the communication via email and the forum was great and really demonstrates our teamwork already. I especially wanted to recognize the high-speed web site that went up and all those who contributed.

The command had just a few reminders to be put out:

-Dont forget to take off all patches on your BDUs

-Remember only regular boots

-Hair cuts, lets all look sharp

-Bring laptops if you have them

-Bring $20 for dues

-We are still looking for a rubber mat, portable bulletin board, and a new motto

-Dont forget to have your answers ready: the word origin of hooah, history of OCS, (by the way great job to those who posted their research), troop-leading procedures, and our "I am your Goal" speech.

-Report in is between 2000-2100 on Friday in PT's.

-On behalf of the rest of this month's command, we also wanted to take this opportunity to reiterate the leadership and organization philosophy command we would like to establish. We believe the biggest principle is using the chain of command. Accountability and responsibility down to each squad member will be important. This month's acting command recognizes the knowledge and experience the whole class brings, or we all would not be officer candidates, and we are open to all questions, concerns, or comments, but the only way we will be able to utilize and address them effectively is through the chain of command. I know we will all need help, if you have an idea, please send it through the chain of command. We are all in this together.

I'm looking forward to working with all of you next month, getting one drill closer to our common goal of those gold bars.

Burds Eye View

Just wanted to give you a logistics update. We are working the guidon issue. The vendor has been difficult to get a hold of. We are working other vendors as a backup plan. The Map Cases have been ordered. We are attempting to get some form of status as to what stage that request is in. We are also in the process of acquiring the cleaning supplies for our "Cleaning Footlocker". Any question or comments, please don't hesitate to call or email. Thanks.

FROM NEWSLETTER EDITOR OC YOUNKINS:

Hello fellow OCs. I am sure that I am not alone when I say that the past month has flow by. As a self-employed father of three, my days just blend together. I am looking forward to seeing all of you again for our first high speed weekend of the class.I have spent 8 years in the Army, 4 active and 4 with the National Guard. I found my military experience was much more enjoyable when I made friends and worked with team players. There is no doubt in my mind that this will be the same way. I encourage you all to work together, seek friendships and remember that once we graduate we will forever share a common bond. See you in May.
