| What is the OCPS? We are an Ontario based club open to all Canadians. Focus is on sharing information, conservation and also helping to introduce these wonderful plants into collections all over Canada through our seed bank and group orders to nurseries abroad. It dosen't matter if you just bought your first venus flytrap from Home Depot or if you've been growing them for years, there are members of all stages from beginner the head grower, all willing to share their information and experiences. |

| Whats a Carnivorous Plant? Carnivorous Plants, or CP's for short are plants that derrive their nutrients from insects primarilly. These plants can be found all over the world from the coldest to the warmest of climates, including Canada. Best known of these would be the venus flytrap. But there are several other plants including Albany Pitcher Plant (Cephalotus), American Pitcher Plants (Sarracenia), Asian or Tropical Pitcher Plant (Nepenthes), Bladderworts (Ultricularia), Butterworts (Pinguicula), Sundews (Drosera), and the beloved Venus Flytrap (Dionaea) to name a few. There are other less common ones like the Rainbow plant (Byblis), Dewy Pine (Drosophyllum), Waterwheel Plant(Aldrovanda), Corkscrew Plant (Genlisea), Devil's Claw (Ibicella), and Roridula aswell as others. |
