For instance, he squats to pee rather than raising his leg (something which I have been told is a "deal breaker"), he cowers and pees when being verbally reprimanded, and has even peed upon being surprised (my husband jumped out from behind a door during "playtime"). dog door Solution to dog barking. He also cowers and whimpers if I try to rub him with my foot, leading me to believe he was abused. When we purchased him, we were told that in order for him to properly secure the house, we would need to keep him inside (we are surrounded by 10 acres of unfenced property). We were told this would also assist in protecting the dog. dog door Dog training information. We were also assured that Schutzhund dogs were well trained, and that keeping him inside would not present problems : he would secure the house, not tear it up. After a few days of being left inside with no problems, we came home to find he had attacked our couch, and chewed on a cushion. On another occasion, while my husband was still in the house, asleep in another room, he woke up to find several books had been destroyed and another cushion ripped and chewed on. dog door Dog rescues. We are very fond of our dog. He has a sweet nature. However, we paid a lot of money for him ($4500, plus another $1000 getting him shipped to us) and we are concerned that he may not be what we were told. Are the confidence problems we have listed above inconsistent with a Schutzhund titled dog? Are Schutzhund trained dogs trained to stay indoors without creating havoc? Is it possible to train a dog to protect the house, instead of tearing it up? Is it likely we were sold a bill of goods? If we could get some of our money back and return the dog, would we be well advised to do so, or with time will he settle down and gain confidence?I should add that we do not yet have his papers. The local dealer does not like to have them shipped with the dogs, as he has had them lost, and getting new papers from Germany takes too long, and we are in the Caribbean. We should have them this next week (they were mailed), but must admit that I'm not sure even with papers in hand I would know what to look for. Thanks for your thoughts. RaunaGo back to the top of the pageI am wondering if you could give me some insight. I just bought a pup(male-9 wks. old)and I found out now that both of the parents come from the same mother(different litters, different fathers). All 3 dogs are owned by the breeder, and she mentioned after I had the pup that the breeding was accidental, that she found them tied in her liveng room and the result was a litter of 3, 2 females and 1 male. (I bought him purely because of an emotional response to a cute puppy, and feel like I was taken for a sucker in retrospect!) Is it unhealthy for 2 1/2 siblings to mate?My pups testicles haven't dropped yet and the breeder says even if they do , she will only give me papers on him if he is shown. Otherwise he has to be neutered, which I would do anyway if he is cryptorchid. I don't know if I trust this lady, she seems a little bit nuts to me. Not to be judgmental. But she has 6 dog crates in her living room (w/ the names on each one )instead of living room furniture! The breeder just sent me a copy of the parents usa/sv pedigree papers that I asked for.
