FreeZone! is Otterbein College's one and only Queer-Ally alliance. As a group we strive to create a more open and accepting environment. Our goal is to promote mutually supportive relationships among all students, especially those with the interest of advancing campus diversity. We also seek to increase awareness of issues that concern bisexual, gay, lesbian, transgender, intersexed, transsexual, and queer students at Otterbein.

FreeZone! has diverse members from the college community who, in a cooperative effort, seek to create awareness of how homophobia impacts the community in which we live. We strive to enhance compassion and understanding for how our society negates common laws and practices with disregard for homosexuality and to eliminate common stereotypes and fears.

Our group provides a secure and positive environment for GLBTTQQI students and their allies to meet, socialize and discuss campus and community issues; as well as educate, in a collaborative effort, the Otterbein community. One of our goals is to make students of all sexual orientations, gender expression, and gender identity feel safe and secure.

FreeZone! is here to provide an officially recognized voice for GLBTTQQI and allied students; and establish a positive ongoing relationship with the administration, faculty, staff, alumni and other student groups on campus and within the surrounding community.

Besides fighting for social justice, FreeZone! members meet for social outings; we see movies, go to local hangouts, attempt to hold BBQs, and sometimes just hang out to chat or for lunch. We are open to all who have an open mind and want to meet some great people who accept you for all your uniqueness.
