Fabulous F.A.Q.

Q: Who attends the meetings?
A: Women, men, everyone in between and non-gendered individuals as well as their friends and supporters.

Q: Do I have to come out or be on any type of attendance list?
A: Nope. We do not publish a list of names, we do have a sign up sheet if you would like to receive meeting minutes and relevant information, but we do not ask nor force you to sign it. And you don't have to come out to anyone.

Q: What usually happens at the meetings?
A: We discuss current as well as past issues, make new friends, educate ourselves and others, plan campus events, and provide any support or information needed by other members, not to mention socializing and having fun.

Q: Can I bring a straight friend to the meetings with me?
A: Of course you can! FreeZone is not just for those who identify as GLBTTQQI, but for their many friends and supports. We invite all open-minded individuals to attend.

Q: What if I don't want to attend meetings and I need someone to talk too?
A: Feel free to email the group at [email protected], or contact one of the officers (information provided on the contact page). Also, several members of the faculty and staff are part of the SafeZone program and are always willing to aid a student. Dean Gatti, as well as many others in the Affairs Office are here for you and are happy to help you in anyway they can.

Q: What is SafeZone, and how do I know where one is?
A: The SafeZone sticker, usually placed in the doorway of an office, room or business, sends a message to students and colleagues. The message is one of understanding, non-judgment and knowledge of GLBTTQQI persons' needs and concerns. It is symbolic of a willingness and commitment on displayer's part to provide an atmosphere of acceptance and assistance. If you are having a problem, or just need someone to talk to, especially regarding GLBTTQQI issues, they are happy to help.
