RULES
1. The number one rule of role-playing (RPing) is to NEVER role play another person's character without their explicit permission. That would be like you trying to control my actions and words.
2. None of your characters can be related in any way to Lessa, F'lar, Robinton, or anyone at all from Anne McCaffrey's books. Those names and characters are copyrighted, and CANNOT be used, and are very protected by her.
3. There is not and never have been a Benden Hold, Benden Weyr, or Ruatha Hold. Also, Anne has forbidden us from using them in any RP. So please don't use them. If we play as if they never existed then there no chance of using them.
4. Also as stated and requested by Anne, we can have no online RPing. All of it must be done through emails only. Do not post stories on your personal homepage, or share them with others outside the group.
5. Please ask before jumping into anything that seems to be heading to something big. There will probably be a little note that states "pre-plotted". And on the same note, if you are planning any major plots, such as killing off one of your characters, or anything else that requires major plotting, please let the BoD know before you begin. It could have a major effect on something we have planned or already going. We would appreciate advance warning.
6. Keep your character true to his or her persona sheet.
7. Please no HAD's (Hears all Dragons) without permission. These are extremely rare,
and if you think that you must absolutely have one of these, we will ask you to give us a very good reason why you think your character needs to have this ability. There will only be a maximum of 2 at any given time.
8. Do you really think that psychopaths will impress a dragon? or that someone who is extremely shy will become a Harper? Be realistic when creating a persona. And no super personas? or walking clich�s. Dragons tend to get annoyed by these, and find them a tasty treat.
9. We have no red, black, or evil dragons. There are only gold, bronze, brown, blue, and green. And there isn't a white dragon either. Anne created Ruth to be extremely unique, and that is how he will remain.
10. Ocean's Dream Weyr Pairings for Impression:
Gold: Only heterosexual females
Bronze: Only heterosexual males
Brown: Only heterosexual males
Blue: Masculine homosexual males, and sometimes homosexual females
Green: Heterosexual females, and feminine homosexual males
13. In order to keep sanity within the weyr, we have a few writing
guidelines to keep in mind:
In our Weyr, human to dragon telepathy is enclosed in [[square brackets.]]
Dragon to human telepathy is enclosed in {{curly brackets.}}
Human "mental monologue" by non-riders, or riders who aren't talking to their dragons, is enclosed in ::colons.::
Put << >> (brackets) around the text that you are replying to. It helps us tell the difference between what you are replying, and what your reply is.
Please RP in the past tense. It's less confusing, and makes it easier to read.
When replying to a long section of text, we would really appreciate it if you would put your reply before what you are replying to. And please, please, please, don't include every single email from that one RP every time you reply, just put in the section you are replying to.
14. This one is also a biggie. If you plan to get into anything sexual, or explicit, have it fade to black before it goes too far. If you want to, continue it in private emails. We may have younger members, and it wouldn't be appropriate. And you know what else? We really don't want to see it. As we are a new Weyr, please keep in mind that these rules may change as our club evolves. The BoD will always keep the membership informed of any changes.
15. Possibly the biggest rule of them all: please, no badmouthing your fellow club members on the mailing list, or off the list. We want everyone to have a good time without undue harassment. If you have a problem with another member, bring it to the BoD immediately, and we'll do everything we can to get it straightened out.
16. No metalic riding persona may have a metalic firelizard. No dragon riders may Impress a wher and no wher trainer may Impress a dragon.
