| History Ocean's Dream was carved out deep in cliffs on the Southern Continent while the Avias was running in the 10th pass. It supervised the creation of Ocean's Dream Weyr as well as its port. Just before the weyr was completed, The Avias somehow ran out of power and Ocean's Dream had to be completed by hand. It was the first of three Southern Continent weyrs the other two being, Day�s walk Weyr and Tomor Wind Weyr. The first ever goldrider came to Ocean's Dream a sevenday after it was completed. She chose one of the back weyrs where the area had been worked out by hand. After 8 turns of service her weyr, along with half the other handmade weyrs, collapsed killing her, the Weyrleader and three Jr. Weyrwomen. Luckily there was a gold egg on the sands at Day�s walk Weyr and it was decided that the egg, along with it's mother and 9 other eggs, would be transferred to Ocean's Dream Weyr after they hatch made made Sr. Weyrlings. Till then a gold transferred from the north and remained at Ocean�s dream weyr for two turns and making four clutches but none had a gold. Then the dragons from Day�s walk Weyr were ready and they transferred. The mother Queen became Sr. Gold and Ocean's Dream Weyr went on. After a 100 turns, Ocean's Dream was closed as the dragon population dropped. Only the Port side remained open. When the 11th pass rolled around dragon number shoot up and the weyr was reopened. The back weyrs had never been opened after the collapse that killed the first Sr. Weyrwoman. With the numbers of eggs on the sands growing everyday; work was begun on the back weyrs and by the 8th turn of the 11th pass all were reopened. Even with all the weyrs open Ocean's Dream and Day�s walk Weyrs were over flowing with riders and weyrlings. They had 4 new golds hatch in only 2 turns! So they quickly discovered a system of caves to the south of Ocean's Dream Weyr and there they opened a new weyr called Tomor Wind Weyr. Three more smaller Weyrs were also created during that time but by the 12th pass all had disappeared from memory. The interval between the 11th and 12th pass was the hardest in memory. New holds poped up all over Southern Contient but dragon numbers dropped leaving three smaller weyrs empty and Ocean's Dream, Day�s Walk Weyr and Tomor Wind Weyr dangerously low with only one queen a piece left by the time the 12th pass came. Needless to say the first fall of the pass was terrible and many died; mostly because dragon numbers didn't start to grow till the fifth turn of the 12th pass. Soon the Weyrs were full again and they had a record 3 golds in one monster clutch of 54 eggs. As the next interval came the dragon numbers did not drop as they had during the interval between the 11th and 12th passes. Instead dragon numbers remained stead far into the very short interval and by the time the 13th pass came all the Weyrs were at a steady 4 golds each. The 13th pass was far longer than any other pass before it. The thread came heavy and dragon deaths rose. Soon one of Ocean's DreamWeyr's golds was dead and another heavily wounded. Once again they were left with two weyrling golds, Sr. Weyrling Mita with her gold Thonith and Jr. Weyrling Yona and her gold Weronth. Mita was only 15 and Yona only 14. No mature golds could be spared from the other Weyrs so the two were left to run the Weyr with the help of the Weyrleader. After a turn of running the weyr; young Weronth took to the skies in what seemed to be a mating flight. Bronzes followed the young queen in the flight and she mated. She never laid a clutch for that flight and never rose after that. With one fertile Queen Ocean's Dream Weyr was quickly becoming a shadow of it's former self. Riders left quickly leaving only the weyrlings and older riders behind. Once again the decision was made and Ocean's Weyr was closed down. The Port was closed down as well and later on taken over by pirates who liked the protection it offered from thread. By the next interval Ocean's Dream Weyr was a run down place, which no one cared about. The interval was a long one and the 14th pass was a short one. The next interval was about normal and now we are in the 15th pass. After another dragon boom in the 10th turn of the pass Ocean's Dream Weyr has been reopened. The first to tranfer to it was Ition and her gold Eronth. At the 18th turn of the pass young Queen's Candidate Teeim Impressed her gold Gorith from Eronth's next to last clutch. We are now in the 38th turn of the pass. Our Weywoman�s second is dead and her dragon, Samith, is on the sands with a clutch waiting to join her lifemate. Our Sr. Weyrwoman is still strong and we have one Weyrling goldrider. A mature goldrider has been requested to become Weyrwoman's Second. |
