| Elira Age: 16 Rank: Candidate/Jr. Journeywoman Harper Physical Description: Elira is a "cute little girl" with down-to-her-cheekbones length red hair that curves out at the ends. She has bright blue eyes that sparkle almost dangerously, hiding the intelligence, wit, and amusement the young woman holds behind them. She is fairly short (5' even) for her age, "helping" the cutesy appearance, which she detests, with a light tan and a myriad of freckles over her upper cheeks and nose. She has long, strong fingers from her days as a Harper, and her voice is a cross between an alto and a second soprano. She can sing high if she wants (she usually doesn't), but finds a lower, tougher voice is more "intimidating" and repels off that sweet girl personality that everyone has associated with her. She writes with her right hand, and, though she's tried, is hopeless at writing with her left. She wears dark colors to offset her bright eyes and hair, and wears one obsidian ring with a ruby in it as her only jewelry- it was a family heirloom, given to her by her grandmother before she died. Personality: Elira is a tough, "macho," fighter-want-to-be with a sarcastic attitude and a quick wit to accompany it. Formerly a quiet young lady that didn't talk back or get angry, she realized how much more fun it was to spend her time with males, rather than the "boring" sweet girls that she knew at the Harper Hall that she used to be with constantly. She's gained authority, boldness, and confidence in herself and who she was meant to be, and is the image of that "terrible teen" people always fear will come along and make fools of them by backtalking, wit, and an incredible character. She detests children (excluding her many siblings, of course), and even the cutest baby won't sway that feeling. She does have a sweet side though; she stands up for the "losers" and the down-trodden, and seems to have the ability to make others feel better by what she says, though she truly has no idea what she's done to earn this. She's helpful and kind when she wants to be, but when she doesn't, she is the images of people's nightmares, the root of their deepest fears, and an all-around pain in the behind. She thoroughly enjoys life in general, and will never pass up a chance to laugh. History: Elira was born in the Dolphin Hall to two loving parents: her mother Meryll, who was a full Dolphineer, and father Davyan, a Harper Hallmaster. She was the third child the happy pair had so far, and she would be third oldest of nine when she turned 16. She was raised both in the Dolphin Hall and the Harper Hall - her parents believed she should have an equal opportunity to choose either of their crafts to be involved in. They wished her to pick one of those two because of the fact that they felt they had lost both their older children to the Healers already; Rora wanted to be a Dragonhealer, and Elalla a regular Healer, but they wished Elira to continue in one of their crafts. The one to go into was practically chosen for her - she was easily seasick and a bit frightened of the dolphins, she had a lovely 2nd soprano voice, and the Masterharper loved the spunk and curiosity of the young girl. She became a Harper at the age of 11. She graduated to Sr. Apprenticeship at 13, which was when she was gifted with a tiny firelizard egg from a clutch her sister Rora had discovered while visiting her mother from the Healer Hall. The egg hatched a week or so later to reveal a green, who she named Dulcidine, meaning "sweet and kind." It was around this age that Elira began to tire of the "sweet little girl" image she'd had forever- she was tougher than most of the other girls she'd met, and enjoyed hanging with guys much more than being pretty and nice with the females. So she began to change her image - she became "one of the guys", started singing more with her alto voice than her second soprano, and cut her hair to look tougher. She loved this new lifestyle, and has stayed away from becoming a "girly-girl" like the plague. She's never had a crush on any of the guys she's hung out with, or any guy for that matter, but hasn't liked any of the girls she's avoided, either. She classifies herself as "in between" when people are curious about her sexuality, because she doesn't really have a preference for either, and doesn't want anyone, saying "I can take care of myself QUITE well, thank you!" At the age of 16, surprisingly enough to her, Elira was Searched for a just re-opened Weyr called Ocean Dreams. And so she begins the next phase of her life, as she heads off to the Weyr, thinking cynically that she'll be returning to the Harper Hall immediately after "all of the dragons get mad and tell me to leave". She does hope, though, just a little, that the dragons will find her acceptable to be a rider. She's been tiring of being a Harper, and wants excitement in her life! If chosen, she'll certainly have it!
