Add a submit button to a form

In Page view, do one or both of the following:

Add a submit button

  1. Click in the form where you want to place the submit button (push button).

If you are inserting a form field but have not already created a form, Microsoft FrontPage will automatically create a form area and insert the field inside that form. The form area will appear as a dashed line when you are editing the page.

You can insert a new line by pressing ENTER.

  2. On the Insert menu, point to Form, and then click Push Button.

Set the properties of a submit button

  1. Double-click the button.
  2. In the Name box, type a name to identify the button.

This internal name, which is not shown on the form, identifies the submit button in the form results. It will be visible to the site visitor on the default confirmation page,

which is displayed when you use a form handler (form handler: A program on a server that is executed when a site visitor submits a form. A form in FrontPage is associated with a form handler.) rather than a custom script.

  3. Click Submit under Button type.
  4. By default, the button label text changes to Submit. You can type a different button label in the Value/Label box.
  5. Click the Style button to access other options for formatting your form using cascading style sheets as an inline style.

Why Become a Member?:

If you've been paying attention lately, you'll notice that many of the top search engines and directories are now charging for website submissions. What was once totally free now could cost you $199.00. The submission price is not for a top position, it's simply for a listing in the index itself. Believe it or not, some of them will take your money, guaranteeing only that your site will be reviewed -- not listed.

AltaVista, Excite, Yahoo and more are all asking you to fork out anywhere from $99.00 to $600.00 just to get "reviewed" without any guarantee that you'll get listed!

So why not just pay one of those submission services their fee to submit one of your pages for you in 1,500+ search engines? That may be one of the biggest mistakes you'll ever make. Even if there is this many search engines supplying their "own" search results, the search engine submission service is NOT going to make your Web pages "search engine friendly". What they're going to do is submit what you supply them. Robot type search engines (the most important of all) will fetch this information from your Web pages so you better have a search engine friendly Web page to start with.

So what does this mean to you? It means you better know how these search engines work and you better know how to build a search engine friendly Web page before you submit. That's what being a member is all about. We provide you with the tools and resources to help you not only build robot friendly Web pages, but to help you submit an unlimited number of Web pages to the top search engines. These Web pages can be your Web pages or any one elses Web pages.

It's true that some of these search engines still allow you to submit for free, but it may take forever to get your Web page listed. Most of these search engines are now dragging their feet when it comes to a free listing. And with hundreds of thousands of Web pages being submitted each and every day, you need a competitive edge in order to be noticed. Paying the $199.00 doesn't give you a premium listing. This is something you have to do on your own.

Our members have access to detailed information about all the major search engines, including submission tips, how search engines rank their listings, what's considered spamming, important design issues relating to relevancy, and other Web site promotional topics.

There's a myth among Web site owners and administrators that submitting your Web page to hundreds of search engines will result in thousands of new visitors. And using META Tags will result in your Web page being listed on top. That's simply not true. In fact there are many Web pages listed on top that don't have a trace of META Tags and they have never been submitted to the search engines. Do you know why they are there and why they are listed on top? Our members do...

If you've submitted your Web page to a search engine and can't find it within the first two or three pages of results, you lose, no matter how many search engines you submitted your Web page to. Do you really think your customers are going to wade through the hundreds of results just to find your listing? Of course they won't.

So how do you get on top you ask? It takes special tools and hard work and that's where becoming a member will help.

There are a number of software packages out there that will help monitor your position on the search engines, but seeing your competition on top doesn't answer the question "why". With the ABS Web Page Analyzer, our step-by-step guide and your hard work, you'll see why. Once you know why you won't have to see your competition on top any more because you'll be there instead.

If you've asked yourself any one of the following questions, you should become a member:

  • How come my competition is on top?
  • Once I'm on top, how do I stay on top?
  • How do I get people to click on my listing instead of my competition's?
  • How do I optimize my HTML to be "robot friendly"?
  • When should I use META Tags and when should I not use them?
  • How do I choose the right keywords?
  • How many keywords is too many?
  • Should I use commas in my Keywords META Tag?
  • Is it safe to use trademarked terms in my META Tags?
  • How many characters can or should my META Tags contain?
  • I heard having only a few keywords in my META Keywords Tag might be better than 100 keywords. Is that true? If so, why?
  • Where are my customers going when on-line?
  • What are my customers doing on-line?
  • What are my customers searching for?
  • How do I choose the right Host Provider?
  • How do I effectively use free Web pages?
  • Should I try banner advertising?
  • What newsgroups should I be involved with?
