Xavier

Xavier died yesterday, alone and in the rain
He died from a gun, he put a bullet in his brain
Or so they say

I know he died two weeks ago, alone and in his bed
Before he took that gun and put a bullet in his head
He died from a broken heart

Xavier was a good ol' boy, when he was just a child
He always went to Sunday School and he never acted wild
He was a good boy

His mama died in a fire when he was only ten
His daddy left the next day, never been seen again
But he didn't cry

He grew into a young man, sad and alone
He always wore a frown and a long black leather coat
But he had a few friends

He fell in love one day with this lovely maiden fair
Who was built slim and she had discolored hair
And he loved her

solo

He professed his love to her every chance she gave
And she loved him too, just not in the same way
And it killed him

She went out on the road one day and left him all alone
And when she returned, he knew that she had gone
With his best friend

Xavier died yesterday, alone and in his bed
Not from the gun that put a bullet in his head
But from a broken heart
