Many Remember the Ski Sunrise course that saw its last season in 2002. It was a beautiful, scenic course on a "backwards" ski hill - you drove up to the top via a rather treacherous access road, skied down to the bottom, and then took the lift back up to the top. I had a chance to play it in the 2002 season right before it closed due to contractual and land disputes with the owners. The legend is truly everything it is cracked up to be.
Tom Bant and his hardworking crew refused to give up on Wrightwood Disc Golf and created a new resort in 2003 on Mountain High proper, right across the street: a grueling, 27 hole course that boasts holes up to 700 feet, with several downhill shots and many very difficult holes. The scenery it boasts isn't quite as spectacular as Ski Sunrise, but it is quite challenging much like its predecessor. Tom is looking at the possiblity of opening both resorts for the 2005 season, making Wrightwood a true "Disc Golf Destination".
