Can OCD Be Treated?
Yes it can. In some cases OCD can be completley cured, atlough that is rare. Most people who suffer anxiety disorders never completley get rid of their disorders. But alot of people can be cured of most of it atlough they will still have tendencys to obsess and get anxious and may have periods where they feel they are back to square one. Here are the two best and main treatments:

Medication:
This may be prescribed by your GP or you may be offerd the opportunity to see a Psychiatrist who specialises in such disorders. The medicines most commonly prescribes for OCD are antidepresants. These tablets are not addictive and have few side effects. But they do take afew weeks to work, so if you are offerd this type of treatment it will be a little while until you begin to feel the benefit (usually 2-3 weeks) It is important to continue with the treatment and to stay on this treatment as long as your doctor suggests to maintain full benefit.

Cognitive and behavioural therapy:
Your GP may recommend this therapy for you. This approach helps to tackle what you think (cognition)and what you do (behaviour).

What Can I Do To Help Myself?
The most successful way to tackle OCD is by 'Exposure Without Response Prevention' This means you must gradually face or expose yourself to the things or situations you fear, whilst preventing yourself from carring out your usual compulsive behaviour. This gradual approach means that at each step you become less afraid of what used to cause you trouble and learn that no disaster occurs if you stop your compulsions.

Other Handy Tips:
Jot Things Down- Writing your feelings down is great when                              you are feeling miserable and sometimes
you will find you will write things down
you didnt even realise you felt.

Get Active-        This doesnt neccesarily mean running or
jumping it just means try to get your mind
off your obsessions by doing something
you enjoy. eg. listhening to music, reading,
drawing, watching tv, playing football, etc..
