Obsessions:

Obsessions are thoughts, images, impulses or ideas that occur over and over again and leave you feeling scared and anxious. The person does not want to have these and find them disturbing  and recognises they do not make much sense. People with OCD have either one or many obsessions that they worry about over and over again. The most common ones are fear of germs, fear of harming themselves or others,  fear of loosing something, and upsetting images.People with OCD often feel fear, doubt, disgust, frustration.

More On OCD!
Most people with OCD perform acts to try and make their obsessions go away. These are called
Compulsions:

People with the fear of germs may resort to washing their hands until they are red and bleeding. Or somebdy who worry about leaving the front door unlocked may check it a certain amount of times untill "it just feels right". The compulsions do not give the person pleasure and are performed to relieve the discomfort obsessions cause. But this relief is short lived and soon the obsession will come back and the person will feel the need to perform the compulsion/s again. And this vicious cycle goes on and on and on.
