| Oblique, a rock band from Marceline, Missouri, first began as a new metal cover band in December of 1999 under the name of "Burnout". The group, who's original members consisted of Drew Stuart, Andrew Finke, Josh Noble, and Michael Gordon, played a few local shows before Gordon left the band, limiting the band to a three-peice. After only a few more shows, Josh Noble was dismissed due to "creative differences". The remaining members, Finke and Stuart, began the search for new members. They quickly acquired the vocal talents of Kameron Gall and guitarist Kurtis Ratliff, completing the line up. The group continued on under the name "BurnOut" for more than a year before deciding to change the no longer fitting moniker. After asking for a decision from a Magic Eight Ball, they settled on the name "Oblique". They have recorded two demo cds and continue to play shows. In the summer of 2003, they added bassist Alex Shoenfelt to the mix. Each member of the band brings something unique to the songwriting table. With influences that range from pop and blues to heavy metal and grunge, the music has a very unique sound that is catchy and melodic yet still very much rock and roll. | |||
