The Rose's Tear
As I walked past the fenced in garden
A single rose caught my attention
It's blossom was sticking through the fence
As if it were trying to remove itself
From the prison it had been given
A drop of dew was hanging
From the tip of the bottom pedal
A tear
of lonliness and longing
And a cry for just one person to care
For just one person to give thought
Of the despair life can hold
I went out of my way to stop the tear
from falling to the cold concrete
And let it fall onto my warm hand
I could feel the gratitude of the rose
For that is how I would feel
If just one person would care enough
To go out of there way for me
