Defragment/Scandisk _____________________________________________________________________ NOTE: You should not run defragment more than once a month unless you consistently move large batches of files on your drive. Disk defragmenting allows the machine to "pack" the data, with no regard to 'garbage'. Option 1: 1) Reboot the computer. 2) During boot, continually tap the F8 key (once per second) 3) From the menu, choose "Safe Mode" 4) Once in safe mode, run Disk Defragmenter/Scandisk Option 2: 1) Hit Ctrl+Alt+Del 2) End all tasks except 'Explorer' and 'Systray' 3) Run Disk Defragementer/Scandisk Once complete, reboot the system. If the utility restarts several times, pause the defrag/scandisk and hit ctrl+alt+del. Make sure that only Explorer and Systray are running in the background. _____________________________________________________________________
