WIZARDS PULL OFF 60-SECOND CHALLENGE

having to answer complex mathematical questions in 60 seconds! This was the
daunting task nine university and secondary school participants had to go
through in the �Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) Investment Quiz Competition�
on Wednesday.
Held
in conjunction with �Minggu Saham Amanah Malaysia� at Dewan Milenium here,
the students were tested on their knowledge of the economy, commerce, unit
trusts and facts on PNB. University Utara Malaysia final-year students Foo Zoon
Hin, 23, Mohd Hanafiah Mohd Ibrahim, 23, Karen Chuah Mei Jiaun, 23 and Wong Wei
Peng, 25, emerged as victors in the university category.
�We
never expected to win as the questions were rather difficult and we were given
only 60 seconds to answer� it felt like an examination� there is never
enough time,� said Foo who headed the team.
They
beat Universiti sains Malaysia (USM) and Universiti Islam Antarabangsa (UIA) to
win RM5000, the group chief executive challenge trophy and other prizes.
Runner-up, USM, and second runner-up, UIA, walked away with RM3000 and RM2000,
trophies and gifts, respectively.
Foo
said that they will invest the money in a unit trust scheme after donating some
to the Faculty of Finance and Banking Club. Secondary school students � Siti
Nurazimah Jamaluddin, Hafiz Mohd Salleh, Norhidayah Basri, Yasmin Abdullah, all
17 � from SMK Agama Nibong Tebal grabbed the first prize in the secondary
schools category, beating SMK Dato� Sheikh Ahmad, Perlis and SMK Agama Pedas,
Negri Sembilan.
