ME

I'm old enough now to enjoy memories and  pleasures that the younger generation knows nothing about. I was thrilled by my first flight in a B-24. I flew on a B-17 that I was Crew Chief on for a Major General. I had nine wonderful years as a Flight Engineer on a B-29 and seventeen fantastic years working on, and flying, the best airplane ever built, the Lockheed C-130.

I spent twenty one years in the Air Force. Twenty was put in for retirement purposes and the last year was spent wondering why I put in the first twenty.

I'm fortunate to have a wife and six kids that like to travel, and after our experiences with Uncle Sam we  lived in and worked one year in Libya, one year in Niger, two and a half years in Saudi Arabia, and four years in Iran.

After our traveling days ended, my wife and I left Georgia, (we had owned property there for over twenty seven years) renewed our passports, and traveled to another foreign country to the south called Florida. We like it so much we became citizens.

Here my wife and I fell in love all over again, only this time it was with computers.

I wouldn't say I'm real old but I remember when gas was less than ten cents a gallon, bread was two cents a loaf, a movie cost ten cents, and the movie popcorn was a nickel a bag. A candy bar that now costs 69 cents sold for a cent and we had a penny post card.

I grew up in a home that didn't have electricity for several years, never had running water, the toilet was in the barn about fifteen yards from the house, and we DID use the Sears Catalogue for toilet paper.

As I grew older I noticed several changes in my life. I lost a little of my hearing, some of my eyesight, a lot of my mind, and nearly all of my hair. Those that have known me for a few years would probably say I also lost my looks. But what the heck: when you're old and ugly how much worse can it get.
