Adam's Reviews: Week #8

Last week Joel "shocked and awed" the entire house (and one commentator)- and he didn't even have to bomb Iraq to do it! His veto use, successful campaign to stay in the house, and subsequent HOH win have made him the star of the show for the past week- but will he be able to keep things up? Houseguests have been pissed at him already for his scandalous choice last week at the veto meeting, and his nominations can only make things worse.

We start the episode with a few confessionals from houseguests about their positions in the house. Most people sort of give the general response that some people like'em and some people don't- BORING. Thank God for confessionals like those of Angela and Chris- Chris' especially made me laugh out loud. Bobby claims he is the joker of the house, and that people don't count on him to win. Since Thomas left the house, I guess Bobby has to be the new joker- and like real jokers, he may just turn out to be a wild card that could take the whole game. Only time will tell... Anyways, back to the episode. Joel decides to nominate Norman and Rob, but doesn't really give a reason. If there's one thing that irks me more than anything when it comes to these games, it's not giving a reason for stuff like this. Even if the reason is "You're a dipshit and I don't ever want to see you again", that's better than nothing (actually, from my point of view that's probably the best nomination speech anyone can give). I guess his reasons were decent, though, since some of the most stable players in the house thought his nominations were appropriate. Others were just glad it wasn't them, and the rest were devastated. I liked Nick and Norman's conversation after the ceremony- this is sort of the first time we've ever really seen Nick lie to anyone, plus I liked his little throwaway comment at the end about how Norman is annoying. But will Nick get a chance to oust Norman? On to the next section!

The veto competition is the lead-off for the next episode, and it's basically a popularity contest. Thus, it's no surprise that Angela wins. I wish Andrew had flipped this around- it would be so much more fun to read about (and write about) if the results had gone as follows... (Andrew, after reading all the other places) "Jessica, you were in last place with 35 points. Because you were in last, this probably means you need the most help- so the Golden Veto goes to Jessica!" I'd love to see the looks on the faces of the houseplants after they heard that! Oh well, a guy can dream... A couple of the confessionals were sort of pretentious- especially Valerie's. It seemed sort of odd that she expected herself to win the power- she seems almost a little delusional when it comes to her popularity. After all, I haven't heard anyone else really say anything especially nice about her. I'm glad Angie didn't use the veto- it keeps her safe for now, gaining only one enemy in the house instead of 3 or 4. At the moment it seems almost like it's a toss-up to see who goes- but what does the house think?

Well, slap me silly and call me princess. (Actually, don't.) I was dead-ass wrong- Rob gets evicted 11-0. His final words are short and sweet- he's glad to go. I'm sort of sad to see him leave- he was a cool guy near the beginning of the series when he called out Andrew for what he had done, but since then had sort of sunk into the woodwork. We finish the episode without an HOH- does this signify another house nomination round? We'll find out next week on Online Big Brother: All-Stars!
