Adam's Reviews: Week #6
When we last left the houseplants, Ben shot some coke and nominated Angie and Nick, two of the best-liked people in the house. Bobby decided to veto Angie, and Ryan was nominated instead (and was subsequently voted out unanimously, with the sole exception of Valerie). This week we're faced with another HOH-less eviction- who does the house really want gone? It's bound to be an interesting week!
We start off with Valerie announcing that she'll miss Ryan, which is perfectly understandable. We then get to nominations, however, and she nominates Nick? Either she's highly vindictive or she's just got a problem with things. Devon, on the other hand, receives nomination votes from nearly everyone. Norman receives votes from half the remaining houseguests- the nominees this week seem to be pretty clear-cut. Norman and Devon both gave pretty much the same old speech- they had nothing to do with Andrew game-wise, and didn't want that affecting people's decisions. I thought that their speeches were perfectly reasonable- but it amazes me to no end that Andrew, although he left the house 2 weeks ago, is still sending negative ripples through the entire group. I just can't believe that one person- especially one voted out so early- could possibly have such an effect on the game and the people in it. Anyways, it seems that many of the perceived allies of Andrew are on their way out, and soon enough his reign of terror from the grave will be over. The last part of this episode is Norman chatting with Nick about his nomination, while Devon holds the same conversation with Valerie. Norman and Nick both agreed that Devon was on their list of targets, and that Norman's nomination was a bit of a surprise. Valerie, on the other hand, bluntly states to Devon that he'll be leaving. I have to admit, I admire Valerie for being up front about her decisions- many people (including myself) are often backstabbing and conniving in this sort of game. Things end up looking bad for Devon, who's got one foot in the grave.
When we rejoin the contestants, we go right into revealing the votes- they seem a little lopsided again, and we're shown that they truly are when the eviction results are revealed- Devon's a goner, 12-2. In his final words he wishes that his friends in the game hadn't voted against him, but overall he was very sportsmanlike in his final words- he didn't hold a grudge and congratulated everyone on the way they played the game. I haven't devoted much column space to Devon, but I'll say it now- he seemed like a nice enough guy, and his final words proved that he knew it was a game and played it like one. So hats off to you, Devon- and I'm sorry to see you go at this point. The next HOH is an enormous word search, and Nick ends up winning! He's been on the block more than anybody else left in the house (if you count the time from the first episode, where he was promptly vetoed). It's going to be interesting to see whether he honors his alliances with Angela and Thomas, and who he puts up for eviction- it's going to be an exiciting week, next time on OBB: All-Stars!
