Adam's Reviews: Week #5
Last time on OBB: All-Stars, I sang my praises to high heaven (or the houseguests, your call) as Andrew was evicted from the house. Ben whipped some ass in the HOH challenge, and was nervous about nominations. This week is bound to be one of the most unpredictable ones thus far!
We start out the episode with a montage of houseguests announcing that the house has decreased from cheesy soap opera drama level to that of Monday Night Football. Vecepia, eat your heart out. Fortunately for the viewing audience, however, everyone is now about to accumulate anger and stress inside until we have a meltdown on our hands. Crap like that always makes for good viewing, so here's to sticking a cork in the collective mouth of the house until somebody explodes (it makes my job easier, anyways). Soon into the episode, we come to Ben's nominations- Angie and Nick. Sadly, Ben doesn't say anything for a reason why. Nothing- the big friggin' goose egg. Not even the stereotypical "You because you're a threat and you because I don't like you." NOTHING. The only insight we get into possible reasons come from Angie- Ben was in Andy's camp and wants revenge. Seeing as nobody wants Nick or Angie to go, I'd put money on the veto being used. Speaking of which...
We start off the next segment with everyone announcing who they trust in the game- Angie is mentioned by every single person except Thomas, who's in an alliance with her anyways- if things continue the way they seem to be going now, I smell a possible victory for Angie (or maybe Sue, since she's mentioned often as well). We then go to Nick and Sue stirring the alliance pot some more- I'm still ignoring the whole deal with alliances, they all seem so pointless and contrived. Unless we can get a Danielle-Jason style bond between a few people, these alliances are going nowhere. The veto competition was a definite departure from previous competitions- and I loved the whole thing! I had to laugh at Nick's- the challenge was a slogan- something that could be thrown in at the end of a 30-second commercial instead of taking up the whole thing. I personally liked Robin's and Bobby's the best (although I thought Robin's was a bit better). I'm glad that one of them ended up winning. I'm glad that one of the two is taken off the block (Angie in this case)- neither of them deserves to go, and Nick clearly has a better chance at staying than Ryan. I'm so glad that Bobby actually gave reasons in his veto speech- I completely agree with what he said, and would have been a bit confused with his replacement nomination otherwise.
The final section of the episode opens with some seriously lopsided votes- only one vote (that we see) is cast to evict Nick from my former potential favorite, Valerie (former because she refuses to take up Angie on her offer of alcohol and transform into the true Amy of Mt. Shasta). When Andrew announces the final vote of 13-1 that Ryan is evicted, it's no big surprise. I'm obviously glad that Nick is staying, and am elated that the two original nominees survived to the next round. Next episode, we have another anti-HOH round. I'm glad that the house is getting more say in who goes up- it's bound to be interesting. And what did I say about alliances? We see that they're falling apart already. Adam 1, Houseguests 0. It's been an interesting week- here's to several more to come!
