Adam's Reviews: Week #4

Last week, we saw Andrew throw a hissy fit at nominations and earn the wrath of a large portion of the house (not to mention one columnist). With the new twist on HOH, there's nothing left for us to expect! Now on to my weekly rant...

We start off the episode with a meeting to organize a mess of an alliance- at least 6 people are involved, most of them already involved with other alliances in the house. I've gotten in the habit of totally ignoring alliances like this- huge alliances are destined to fall apart, especially in games that last a long time. We've seen it all the time- the hot tub alliance in Big Brother 3 fell apart within a week, and the Elite 8 of Big Brother 4 are now down to just 3 members. Dawn had the right idea at first- trying to stay out of massive alliances until much later in the game. Too bad she ruined it by joining the giant mess. Now onto the nomination process... I'm thrilled that things don't depend so heavily on one person (at least for now)- that way the house's true sentiments are revealed. Andrew shocked me- he tried to pull together a group of 11 people in order to keep himself safe. At first I figured that he would stop at that- but then he went and announced that Dawn had incited the whole deal. I thought I couldn't hate this guy any more after the first week, but I was proven wrong by his rant afer Angie's nominations. I figured that I had hit rock bottom- but no. This guy is the slimiest player I've ever seen in these games- and not in a good way. He's got a total lack of tact- any even halfway respectable player would at least be slimy the right way. He went and announced his plan to the majority of the house, and then told everyone else a different story- people are bound to compare notes, and he only dug himself deeper into the hole he was in. I'm glad the other houseguests saw it that way. When the final tally came around, I was glad Andrew was up (although I thought he would have gotten more than 11 votes). I didn't really think Rob deserved to be up compared to some more inactive players- we really haven't heard anything from players like Ryan, Michael, and Norman. Rob at least had the guts to be up-front and honest with what he's doing, and he deserves to stay for that. Oh well- the odds of his eviction over Andrew (especially with no veto) are slim to none. On to Part 2!

The title of this section of my column will be Ding Dong, going back to the famous song from the Wizard of Oz. Of course, in this case the witch is actually a guy, and he's not really dead- just off of my computer screen until the last episode! Anyways, you can probably guess that I was elated about this eviction. Andrew's tactless scheming finally caught up with him, and he's out the door. In his final words, he says he doesn't want to see any of these people again- I have a feeling though that many of these people may not want to see him again. Ben as the new HOH is going to be interesting- he hasn't been terribly prominent in the episodes so far, so it's going to be a bit of a mystery as to who he nominates. I'm looking forward to finding out next week on OBB: All-Stars!
