Adam's Reviews: Week #2
Welcome back to another edition of my commentary on the game... This week certainly had some interesting action going on! We're a week into the game and already we've had some kinky hot tub sex and some gossip behind people's backs- hey, it may make the house a friggin' hellhole of a place to be, but on the outside looking in it sure makes my job a hell of a lot more fun! Anyways...
I was half shocked and half not at Dawn's nominations (guess which one was which). I know Nick as an extremely talkative guy online, and it sort of surprises me that he never got a chance to speak with Dawn. Going through the key box (that must be a damn big box to fit 20-odd keys), I kept expecting to see "Nick, you are safe..." and when it didn't my jaw dropped. LaNea, of course, was no big surprise. I had figured that Nick would be saved by a unanimous vote, seeing as half the house shared my reaction to Nick's nomination. However, the whole situation changed with the next episode...
I liked Valerie's little ode to cheese- I'm still waiting for Angela to mix up some booze for the girl! I can picture it now... Valerie chases the other housemates around stealing their Stolichnyas (registered trademark of drunk crazy Russian mafia members everywhere) and raising hell about only being able to eat PB&J for a week! Hell, if that happened I'd actually be willing to shell out the $25 bucks for live feeds (not really- don't get any ideas). Personally, I really like the new veto twist- it wrenches the power away from the HOH and actually gives some incentive to use it for a change instead of pussyfooting around the HOH. I was glad that Rob used the veto on Nick and put up Andrew- I have to agree that Andrew was being a dickwad by talking about Angela and Joel behind their backs that way... If he doesn't like what they're doing, all he has to do is ask them to stop. There's 20 people in the house- if he had taken the honest way out of it nobody would have a grudge against him, but this way he's got a decent proportion of the house irked with him. The best part of the week is still coming, though- the eviction and the new HOH competition!
The eviction show got a quick start by showing the votes immediately- it was pretty clear that the votes were going to be much more interesting than if Nick had stayed on the block. The final tally of the vote surprised me (and even the results). It's unfortunate that the house was so divided, so quickly- the fights that took place this week are going to blow up into full-scale nuclear war by the time the game nears its end. If I had been in the house, I probably would have voted to evict Andrew- talking about Angela and Joel behind their backs was the wrong thing to do. Also- there's still a long ways to go in this game! There's time to vote out the inactive players later. The problem that is most prominent in the house right now is the split that's starting to tear the house in two. I'm glad that Angela is the second HOH- she came so close last time, and she's well-liked enough that she won't make too many enemies this time. I have a feeling that Andrew is going to be up on the block and probably going- Angie doesn't seem to have any enemies besides him. I don't know who she would put up alongside him- Big Brother's history has gone every which way when it comes to the target or the pawn leaving, so I would caution Angie to make a wise decision.
This week was certainly a good one from the viewer's standpoint- we've had sex, fighting, and clashes of values when the game has barely started. The only two things that can make the game better at this point are a massive catfight and booze for Valerie! See you all next week- Cheers!
