Humour Hammers
The best of us definitely are those who have a sense of humour - especially those who have that precious ability to  look at their faux pas with a smile in their eyes and a grin on their faces. They not only direct  sunshine into their own lives but also light up the world of those they come in contact with.

Most people wonder how can anyone ever look at their mistakes, weaknesses and follies in a lighter tone and not with the seriousness it deserves. Well, to be honest, we almost always choose to absorb the impact of a mental blow (activated by personal, financial or material loss) when we have the clear choice of deflecting it off or assimilating only the lessons that can be learned from the episode.

The way we look at anything that happens to us and around us, is of our own choosing. Its a mind game. When we learn to smile in times of defeat or desperation, it does us a lot of good: 1) It grants us the power to coolly accept the reality of the moment rather than fight on  in vain. 2) It allows us to stay in control and on our feet (damage control) when our whole world has collapsed around us. 3) It renews our commitment to take another swing (proactive) at life and move on from the ruins of yesterday towards the abundant opportunities of a promising tomorrow. 4) The hidden benefit is that when we do not allow pressure to pressure us, we remain healthier and on our toes, fully equipped to face the ups and downs and move on with our lives.
Well, that's the power of humour. It not only can protect us from the pain of the past & the present but also empowers us to choose life and not make a ridiculous attempt to activate a mental pause to the present from moving on into the future.

So let humour hammer out the humdrum. Let humour hammer out the vice-like grip of negative thoughts. Let humour hammer out gloom & depression and brighten up our day. Let humour hammer out self-hatred and allow for increased self-acceptance. Let humour hammer out the serious evils afflicting our societies today and bring smiles of peace and progress into our lives. Amen.
