           Air Travel

Air travel will be a very important key to solving the puzzle of travel on Mars. Although this can only be utilized with the aid of an airport or helipad, It will prove invaluable in scouting and transportation missions as well as getting supplies from the mother ship in orbit or to a different colony in need. After deemed an important enough topic to research, we found ourselves face to face with some problems, What would fuel them? What materials would be used and would they withstand the stress? Would they take vertical or coasting landings?  So we went ahead and researched these questions.  The fuel used to power these aircraft would have to be efficient and non toxic, The answer to this question is electricity.  With huge powerful solar panels to coat the outside of the aircraft.  These panels would capture and funnel energy into the motor,  The result is a never ending stream of electric fuel.  In our research we found the answer to our second question, what materials would be used.  Since the cargo aircraft would have to be able to withstand the entry and reentry though the small but still threating atmosphere, it would be made just like todays shuttle aircraft with tiles to withstand the heat.  The machines that would only stay on mars have to built with aluminum just like our modern day planes or fighter jets.  They would take vertical landings because then there would be a smaller run way.  There are many more things that we don’t know and one very big on is do we have enough fuel to make it to mars and be able to travelon mars?  The answer to that one is that we don’t know if  there will be enough but there might be gas on mars if there is not then we will have to ship it to mars.
