Saint Brigid's G.N.S. Newtownmounkennedy is situated in the village of Newtown. The school serves the educational needs of students from Junior Infants to Sixth class. Children attend the school from the village itself and all its surrounding areas.

The holy Faith sisters started a long tradition of teaching in Newtown over a hundred years ago. The educational and spiritual values of the sisters have been maintained and developed through the years as the school became a parish school in 1994.
