From the Pastor: A warm welcome to all who are worshiping with us this morning. We trust today's service will be of great inspiration and blessing for you. Tonight at 7 p.m. we will gather at Shirley Nind's to pray for the life and work of this fellowship. This Thursday, February 20, 10 a.m. we will have our first service for the year "For The More Traditional At Heart". Please invite friends and neighbours to share in this short service of worship followed by a cup of tea. On Sunday February 23rd, 7 p.m. our young people will be having a special Youth Service here with a speaker. For more information see Jacinda. There will be no prayer meeting that night. I will be travelling to Christchurch for a Pastor's meeting on Tuesday February 25th. STOP PRESS: To start the year, the Elders have felt to call for a churchwide Day of Prayer and Fasting for Saturday March 1. Some of the issues we want to seek God for are: * need for a leader for our Music and Wroship Team * God to reveal His strategies for this year and the future * Greater fruitfulness. We plan to gather together at 4 p.m. for a time of corporate prayer. Several people have indicated an interest in doing the course "Heart of Parent Teen". The course is designed to help people with the task of bringing up Teenagers and is suitable for both church and non-church people. Do you know of anyone in the community that could benefit from being part of this. See Dawn Cousins for more information about content, format etc. Could you help me with a bit of feedback. If you have ideas for sermon topics or sermon series that you would find helpful or you feel would be helpful for the fellowship please write me a short note and put it in my pigeonhole. I want my preaching to be helpful and relevant, and this is one way to do it. Our Small Groups are in the process of starting up. These are essential if you want to grow in your spiritual life and develop meaningful relationships with other people. See the list of groups at the back of this newsletter. If you would like more information see Janet Calder. In addition to our normal small groups we will also be shortly starting Alpha and Divorce Care. There are still a few prayer cards available in the foyer. I suggest you take one and put one or two names of non-church people on it. Put it in your Bible or devotional book. It will act as a reminder to pray regularly for these people's salvation. We really appreciate Kirsten's availability to work in our church office for a few hours each week. She will be in the church office from 12.30 p.m. each Friday. When inviting people to church please remember to let them know about the parking and access through WINZ car park. Many thanks to the men who have been getting the firewood for sale. We now have a reasonable quantity set aside. If you would like some see Alister. All proceeds go towards supporting our Missionaries. We are currently looking for a thermal/fax/answerphone for the office. If you know of one that is for sale please contact Steve or Bruce. Please note we have no more Sunday School chairs for sale. What we have left will be stored on the stage for future use. MISSIONARY NEWS * It was great to have Jan & Alan here with us earlier this month. They return to Bangladesh on 27th February. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they farewell family and return to the work God has for them to do. * Robyn has met with Dr Mark Callaghan in Haiti. He is a heart specialist at the Mao Clinic in the USA. He is amazed at her recovery. She is awaiting results of a biopsy on a growth on the roof of her mouth. We pray God's continued healing for Robyn. Pray also for Haiti which is very unstable at the present time. CELL GROUPS: Will start mid February.
