CHURCH MANSE CHALLENGE
Help Paint the Entire Outside of the Manse in ONE DAY!
SATURDAY MARCH 24
I am looking for people who could work at the manse during the week before this to sand and prime windows, doors etc.  Also 2 or 3 people who could prime the roof before Saturday.  The whole manse will be water blasted before any painting or sanding is started, so the job should be quite easy.  The reason for this work is so that on the Saturday we can paint the whole manse in one day and that can be the end of it.  Should be fun!
We now have the paint and most of the gear needed, so join us for a great day and make our manse something to be proud of.  Please contact Steve Cousins a.s.a.p. for any offers of help at [email protected] or  phone/fax 4372769 or you could let Bruce know a.s.a.p.
Thanks
Joy and Dave warren and Graeme and Mary-Ann Clarke would like to thank the church family for their love, support and prayers on the occasion of the passing of their special Mum.

YOUTH GROUP: WHATS HAPPENING?!
40 HOUR FAMINE FRIDAY 16TH - SUNDAY 18TH MARCH!  The theme this year is YOUR WEEKEND THEIR LIFE so lets all get sponsored!  We are having a sleepover on the Saturday night of the Famine in the Hay Shed at the Sharpes Farm.  Meeting at the church by 3 p.m. on Saturday.  You will need to bring sleeping bag, pillow, games to play, no food apart from fruit juice and barley sugars, and some warm clothes.  If Mum & Dad could also help with transport that would be awesome.
Phone Sean on 4342182.
From the Pastor:
On Sunday morning March 11 we will be Baptising Heather Holmes and Emma Kilgour.  Please remember these ones in your prayers and bring a word of encouragement or portion of scripture for them.  It would be helpful if this was written out beforehand and given to them so they can keep as a reminder of their special day.  We will gather for prayer in the lounge to pray for the life and work of this fellowship at 7 p.m.
Deacons will be meeting on Wed. evening March 14.
On Sunday March 18 we will have our special Harvest Thanksgiving Service - a time to give thanks to God for His faithfulness in supplying our needs for the past year.  Please bring some non-perishable food items which will be donated to the food bank to help those with a need at this particular time.  There will be an opportunity to bring these to the front during the service.  If folk have any items we could use for the display please leave these in the church auditorium by Friday evening March 16.
We are currently putting together a new church directory.  There is a Draft copy on the back wall.  Please check that your details are correct or make any alterations.  We have endeavoured to get everyones name listed, but if for some reason have missed you please add your details to the list.

We started our first Divorce Care meeting on Thursday evening and will be meeting weekly for the next 13 weeks.  Please remember this group in your prayers that each one will receive Gods help to work through the different issues raised.  If you come across another person who could benefit from the course let me know as it is modular in design which means people can join at any time.

Last year we began a process that has involved many people and hours of research and data gathering for a church consultation and review later this year.  I would like to thank those people who have helped put this document together.

We have sent copies to Eric King (South Island Superintendent of Baptist Churches) and Mike Dodge (Regional Youth Consultant for Canterbury-Westland Baptist churches) who will be coming for the weekend of April 27-29 to give us an independent consultation and review.  This will be an important time as they will be listening to many people on Friday evening and sharing with the wider leadership all day on Saturday.  On Sunday morning Mike Dodge will be preaching and this will be followed with a church lunch after which they will share their findings with all who wish to be there.  This will include our strengths, weaknesses and things they see we need to work at changing.  This will be a very important and far reaching weekend for the life of this church.  Please make a note of this in your diary so you can be there.  If you would like to see a copy of the document all of the leadership has copies which you may borrow (Bruce, Alister, Sharyn, Nan, Shirley, Janet, Fleur and Sean).

The church has three separate prayer chains that operate for anyone who desires to have quick and confidential prayer over any issue.  Ring Lorna Ridley 434 7531.  There is always room for more people to be on the prayer chains - if this is an area on your heart let Lorna know.

There is a seminar, focusing on the ministry needs of the 55 Plus Age Group, to be held at Timaru Baptist on March 27, 10.30 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Cost is $5/person.  Gaynor and I are planning to go.  We have room for three more in the car, let us know if you are interested.  For more information there are some spare leaflets in the foyer.

Margaret Brown has been able to get a copy of the recent production Alegria.  This is the official video only available for purchase at the production.  She is keen to get a group together to watch it.  If you are interested give her a ring on 431 3675.  As she only has a 14-inch TV it would be helpful if someone could either loan her a larger TV or perhaps have the screening in their home.  There is a brochure on the back wall about the production.
We are grateful for the work Doug is doing with our Sound System.  Part of his job is taping the Sunday morning sermons which he makes available to the Sunday School Staff and anyone else who would like copies.  Unfortunately quite a number of these tapes have not been returned which means our Sunday School staff may not be able to be kept up to date with the sermons.  If you have any of these tapes please get them back immediately.  While you have them sitting on your shelf someone else could be missing out.

Reminder:  Have you got one of the Faith Like Potatoes books?  Please try and read it as quickly as possible and return it to Janet Calder, or ring her on 4349435 so she can tell you who to give it to next.  We want as many people as possible to read it and catch a vision for Angus Buchans visit here at Queens Birthday weekend, so that we can be prayerfully upholding this campaign.

BECOMING A CONTAGIOUS CHRISTIAN:
If we are to reach out into our community with our faith we need to know HOW to do it.  We have to be intentional.  Becoming a Contagious Christian is a course of 8 sessions where you will learn to communicate your faith in a style that suits you.  We do not have to be an extrovert or especially articulate.  We do not have to become something odd that we do not want to be.  Nor do we have to become something great that we may never be.  Rather we can be ourselves.   God wants to use us to spiritually impact those around us.  Come and join us, and become more effective in communicating your faith.  Course dates: 5th, 6th and 7th April.  Cost: approx $15.  Venue:  To be decided.  See sign up sheet at the back.  Please register by Sunday 25th March.  Contact Janet Calder at 4349435 or email to [email protected] for more details.
