From the Pastor: A warm welcome to all who are worshiping with us today. This morning Alister, Gaynor and I are attending our annual Baptist Assembly in Christchurch. Janet Calder will be preaching. Tonight at 7 p.m. you are invited to our prayer time at Shirley Nind's. Next Sunday, 17th November, we will be having our annual Heritage Service. Once again we are encouraging people to come dressed in "Period Costume". It has been really encouraging to see more and more people entering into the spirit of that weekend. Later in the afternoon some of our folk will be manning a stall at the Fete. The purpose of this stall is to build a profile for us in the town and bridge the gap between the church and the unchurched. If you can help see Sharyn Walker. They will be selling shortbread, sweets, toffee apples, pickles etc. They would value your contributions. All proceeds will go towards our Missions budget. There will also be activities for children. Thursday November 21 at 10 a.m. we will be holding our next "Service for the More Traditional at Heart". Don't forget to invite a friend or relative to join us. On Wednesday November 13 Deacons will meet. We will be having our church quarterly meeting on Wednesday November 20 here in the church. On Saturday November 23 the Elders and Deacons will meet to plan our priorities for next year. Please remember this in your prayers. If you have used tapes at home please return them as our supply is running low. There are a few Bank Automatic Payment forms in the foyer if you wish to avail yourself of this means of keeping your tithe regular. If you wish to use the internet for Bill payment see Sharyn. We are still looking for a World Day of Prayer representative from this church. If you feel this is a ministry you would like to take up please see Bruce. Please remember to keep the door locked between the church and hall until painting is completed out the back. There are still a few "Bags for Missions" available (on the pulpit). Please help yourself to one, take it home and put your spare change in it. Once a quarter we will bring them to church and empty them with all the proceeds going to support our member missionaries. Please remember the following in your prayers * New leadership for youth as we process a recently received application. * Alpha programme on Monday evenings. * Leadership retreat November 23rd * Leadership for our Music and Worship Team. * Next step for our rapidly aging buildings. * Team at the Victorian Fete. * Those unwell or unable to get to our morning services: Noel Cleverley, Mavis Kane, Betty Broad, Phil Sargent, Ethel Baker, Elsie Lockhart. BIBLES FOR FORM 2 PUPILS: It's that time of year again when Form 2 pupils at our local schools are given the opportunity (with parents consent) to receive a "Promise Study' Bible. The cost is $25 each. Bibles are given out at rural schools through the Bible-In-Schools programme, and at Oamaru Intermediate School by the school chaplain. Feedback from young people over the years has been very positive and the Bibles are well received. If you are able to support this project please give your donation to Fleur Martin (phone 4370390) or Roland Green, 41 Tyne Street (phone 4348566) GIRLS' BRIGADE: This Wednesday 13/11 is our last night of the year.
