The Masters Institute is an alternative fully accredited Christian Teachers Training College in Auckland. It specialises in training teachers for Primary and Intermediate level. Foodbank Annual Meeting will be held on Friday August 23 at noon in the Foodbank premises. Church representatives are invited to join. Past experience shows that this is not usually a lengthy meeting. This is also a good opportunity for the Foodbank to convey thanks to congregations in and around Oamaru for their support of this work through the year. At present we have a good supply of tinned foods, but there is always a demand for margarine, eggs, packet long-life milk and milo for children. The Annual Missionary Fundraising Sale is being held on Saturday 28th September. We would be grateful of any items you might have which we could sell (No second-hand clothes thank you). There will be the usual stalls including our famous well-stocked plant stall, books, some lovely crafts, garage sale bargains, cakes and produce. We hope the sale will give our missionary account a much needed boost and thank you, in advance, for your support. Also if you didn't collect a "shrapnel bag" last Sunday and would like one, see Sharyn. It is a great way to get rid of your loose change and help the work going on in Bangladesh and Haiti. "Strengthening Your Structures" September A Conference for any Christian woman who desires to be encouraged and strengthened in her Christian walk. FINANCIAL REPORT: Average weekly offering for July: General: $1355.50 Missionary: $ 372.37 Youth: $ 71.00 FROM THE A.G.M. This was held during our morning service on August 4th. A number of people from many areas of our fellowship, shared testimonies of what God has done over the last 12 months. Bruce preached on "Now being the time for Harvest". Office bearers were re-elected as follows: Chairperson - Gary Shirley Treasurer - Sharyn Walker Deacon - Shirley Nind and elected: Secretary - Fleur Martin. Our elders who have served 1 year of a 2 year term remain: Alister Calder, Alec Clarke, Janice Thorpe. Convenor Positions: Nan thanked all convenors. Baptismal Stewards are still needed. This task requires preferably two people to prepare the pool for baptisms and be there to support people before and after their baptism in a practical way. A vote of thanks was given to Nan Sargent for her work as Secretary over 3 years. The elders prayed for Bruce and Gaynor as they left for Canada.
