From the Pastor:
A warm welcome to all who are worshiping with us today, we trust our time together will be inspirational for each one.   Gaynor, myself and the boys are in Christchurch this weekend and plan to be home Monday evening.  This morning Janet Calder will be preaching.  At 2 p.m. there will be a Community Hymn and Chorus Sing-along at the Union Church.  There will be a retiring offering for the work of Alan and Jan Smith in Bangladesh.  Afternoon tea will follow.  At 7 p.m. we will gather at Shirley Ninds to pray for the life and work of this fellowship - all are most welcome to attend.

Coming Events:
On the weekend of October 5-7 we will be having our Church Camp at Iona.  There will be no church service here that morning.  If you arent able to come to the camp we hope you will be able to enjoy a leisurely Sunday morning drive out to Camp Iona for our 10.30 a.m. service (note different time) and stay for the BBQ lunch.  If you are coming only for the service and the BBQ please remember to bring $2 camp fees, your own food, dishes and cutlery.

On Tuesday, October 9, Sean, Janet, Gaynor and I will be in Timaru meeting with other Pastors and spouses from South Canterbury.

Regular Sunday School classes will recommence on Sunday October 14.
Other News:

Our new door has now been installed in the church lounge, and will be unlocked on Sunday mornings for people to be able to use the WINZ carpark.  Many thanks to Kevin Walker for all his work in getting the job done.

The North Otago Christian Bookshop will hold their AGM at 7.30 p.m. on October 31 in the Salvation Army Lounge.  The bookshop is run by volunteers from many different churches.  If you would like to help support this ministry you are most welcome to attend.

The Salvation Army will be hosting the On Fire Big Band later in October.  Their style appeals to all ages and includes 30s swing, 50s rock, 80s funk to the contemporary present music.  See notice board for more information, times and costs.

REMEMBER: COMMUNION SUNDAY IS OUR COMMUNITY SUNDAY.

PROMISE STUDY BIBLE for Form 2 students:
In recent years this excellent edition of the Bible has been given to Form 2 students in a number of North Otago schools, where the student has indicated they would like one and parents have agreed.  To continue this project this year, we would like to know by the end of October, if there is support there by way of $25.00 pledges.  If you are able to sponsor 1 or more Bibles please let Fleur Martin know by the end of October.

Positive Thought
He sends you flowers every spring and a sunrise every morning.
Whenever you want to talk, Hell listen.
He could live anywhere in the universe, and He chose your heart.
What about the Christmas gift He sent you in Bethlehem;
not to mention that Friday at Calvary.
Face it, Hes crazy about you.
