| From the Pastor: A warm welcome to all who are worshiping with us today. As part of our service this morning we will dedicate Callum Fuller to the Lord. There will also be an opportunity at the end of the service for anyone who would like prayer for healing or any other situation. On Wednesday July 25 the Team Leaders will meet at Shirley Ninds place. On Friday July 27, 7.30 p.m. we will be having our two monthly combined churches prayer gathering at Eveline Presbyterian Church. This is a wonderful opportunity to join other Christians to pray for our town and nation. On Sunday evening July 29 we will be having our own church prayer time in the lounge at 7 p.m. Sunday August 12 will be a special day as we will be Baptising 2 people - Ben Murray and Derek Fuller. Please be much in prayer for these people and others who are considering the step. Deacons nominations are open and need to be in the hands of Nan Sargent before our Deacons meeting on August 8. Our 3 current Deacons (Nan Sargent - Secretary, Sharyn Walker - Treasurer, Shirley Nind - Deacon) are all finishing the first year of their two year term so are not due for reappointment. We have received four nominations for Elder - Alister Calder, Alec Clarke, Gary Shirley and Janice Thorpe. For many years our hearing aids have served us well, however in the last few years we have had a number of problems with them. The Deacons have considered this and decided to upgrade our system by installing a Loop System which will enable people with a Hearing Aid to sit anywhere in the church to hear clearly. We hope to have this operational in the next few weeks. For many years our hearing aids have served us well, however in the last few years we have had a number of problems with them. | We are extremely grateful for the work June Schtork has done in reviving our church library. There are some excellent books available - make sure you have a good look before you leave church today. We are also grateful to those people who have loaned or donated books. To borrow a book write the code, your name and the date in the register. As part of our vision for our fellowship we would like to encourage the development of a caring, hospitable culture. To do that we would like to make our Communion Sundays, Community Sundays. As much as possible we would like everyone to invite someone home for a meal or cup of tea that day. Rather than asking people that you know well, think of asking someone you would like to know better, or someone you dont know at all. The emphasis is to have fun and fellowship, so take time to enjoy the people you invite. Remember that friends are strangers that we havent met yet or got to know. In order to help increase our parking facilities on Sunday mornings we are pleased to announce that permission has been received from Hurst Holdings, the tenants of Coquet House, Goldies Glass and the Building inspector to use the parking facilities of Coquet House directly behind our building. In order to facilitate this we plan to install a single door through our back wall opening onto the car park so people can have good access. We plan to put the door through the back wall on the right hand side of the youth hall - this will entail losing some of the storage space on the stage and also losing the heating duct into the church lounge. At this stage we havent finalised costs but expect it to be in the vicinity of $1500. There will be a short church meeting after the service on Sunday August 5 to discuss this proposal. If you have any questions or comments please see Steve Cousins or one of the Leadership. Wannaknow weekend for folk considering any type of cross cultural missionary service - either long term or short term. This is sponsored by the Christchurch International Mission Agencies (CIMA). Venue is the Waipara Boys Brigade Camp and will be held September 21-23. See notice board and leaflets in foyer. |
| PLEASE NOTE: AGM Reports need to be with Nan Sargent by the 29th July - the AGM will be held on 15th August. Thank you I would like to thank the church family for all their kind prayers, gifts of food, phone calls, cards, letters and visits during my recovery from a broken hip. I am well on the way to full health and strength again. Thank you all once again.
