Size Matters  October 2003

I've recently been asked this question and I must say that on the whole, yes - it certainly does. As a novice miniaturist I often bought things without the aid of a ruler, and arrived home dissapointed that the wonderful tea cup I had just bought for my dollshouse was, in comparison with the doll, roughly the size of a bucket!

I think that nowadays we miniaturists are a little more discerning when choosing pieces for our houses. When I was a mere novice miniaturist I used to have to take a ruler to fairs so that I could measure each piece I liked and estimate it's suitability.
Size can become an issue when the 'real' house is fast becoming over run. For the sake of marital relations it would seem that going down to a smaller scale would certainly improve our household harmony. My Husband says that if he stubbs his toe on that blasted castle again he will gladly reduce it's size considerably!
