Oak Grove Drama attends the South Mississippi Drama Festival, ITS convention, and the Mississippi Theatre Association's Children's Festival every year.
TheTennessee Williams Festival is held in Clarkesdale, MS. in honor of the famous playwright, Tennessee Williams.  We have attended this competition for five years and have won Honorable Mention in Scene Competition (1998), Second place in Scene Competition (1999),  First place in Scene Competition and Third place in the Monologue Competition (2000), Second Place in Scene Competition and Honorable Mention in Monologue Competition (2001), and Third Place in Scene Competition, Winner of the Stella Calling Contest, and Best Overall Performer(2002), First Place, Second Place, and Honorable Mention in the Monologue Competition, Second Place in the Scene Competition, Best Costume, and Best Overall Performer(2003) .
Beginning in 1986, the Oak Grove High School Drama Department has actively participated in the South Mississippi High School Drama Festival held each year at the University of Southern Mississippi.  At the festival, Oak Grove High School has received seventeen Superior ratings and three Excellent ratings.  Also, Oak Grove High School has been recognized for Outstanding Direction six times, and for Technical Achievement four times.  Each year many students have been selected for the All Star Cast.
We are extremely proud of our Overall Merit Awards.  The Overall Merit Award is presented to the school contributing the most to the production, as well as displaying as attitude of cooperation throughout the festival.  In the twenty years of participating, Oak Grove High School has been presented this award fifteen times.
In addition, three plays from the Southern Festival are selected to advance to the Mississippi Theatre Association (MTA) State Drama Festival each year. Twelve of our productions have been selected to compete at MTA.  Our participation at MTA has resulted in five Runner Up Awards, four Best Director Awards, three Best Actor Awards, two Best Actress Awards, three Best Supporting Actor Awards, four Best Supporting Actress Awards, one Best Scene Design, and six Best Costume Designs..  In addition,  we have received numerous All Star Cast Awards and even had an award created for us - the Best Ensemble Award.
Oak Grove High School's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream (1997) their production of  Subway Circus  (2000)their production Crow and Weasel (2005); and their production of The Crane Wife (2007)received the highest honor of the Dominic Cunetto Best Play Award and were chosen to represent Mississippi at the Secondary School Division Competition of the Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC).  We had seven students receive the honor of All Star Cast at SETC. The production The Crane Wife was chosen as Runner- Up Best Production at SETC and Mrs. Allmon also won Best Director.
Oak Grove's drama department has attended the state ITS festival for six years.  Oak Grove has received Superiors in Musical Theatre, Duet Musical Theatre, Group Musical Theatre, Costume Design, Monologue Competition, Duet Acting and in the Play Competition.  Superior is the highest rating you can receive. Oak Grove won the Play Competition in 2002 and represented MS. At the International Thespian Society Festival in"  Lincoln, Nebraska. They have also had the honor of being chosen as Runner-Up Twice.
Oak Grove's drama department participates every year in the MTA Children's festival.  The Performing Arts class writes and performs their original works for children that are bused in from all areas.  This is a great experience and a lot of fun for the students and children alike They have been asked to publish their show, Pirate Island, that won Best Show at the MTA children's festival in 2007. This was the first year awards were given at that festival.
