The Oak Church of Christ

The Oak Church of Christ is a church of Christ as described in the New Testament.  We are not trying to be arrogant when we say this, but we want everyone to know that we take serious God's commands and His church, Mt. 16:18.  We have no headquarters on Earth to whom we look for what we believe or teach concerning doctrine in the church.

The Oak congregation of the Lord's church is a place where we pride ourselves in our hospitality to people of all races, genders, and matters of opinion.  We are also a congregation that strives to be pleasing to God by fulfilling the Great Commission, and so when you visit with us you will find Gospel preaching, exhortation, and even mild rebukes at times.  Our intention is to go to Heaven and take others with us, and our hope is that you will be a part of that mission with us.

We are located two and a half miles North of the Hwy 5 and Hwy 64 intersection on Hwy 5.  Our facilities will be undergoing a change in the next few years with our decision to build a building for more room and upgrading some of our facilities.  We are "special needs" designed with handicapped parking, wheel-chair accessible bathrooms, and plenty of room in the auditorium for wheel-chairs and/or other needed devices.

This congregation, if it were to be labeled with a worldly label, is conservative and sound.  For those who are familiar with the churches of Christ this means certain things, but for those who have never had or have had little familiarity with that terminology it will be explained.  We believe in God's Word, The Bible, as our only creed and authority, and that separates from the denominational world.  We are autonomous (self ruled) by a men's business meeting, but that is only because of our lack of men qualified to be elders.  When a congregation does not have elders this is an alternative till they can be appointed.

Many of our members are third and fourth generation Christians, but they are also many that are converts.  This congregation has made one move since it was started nearly a hundred years ago, and it gets its name from an Oak tree that was once in the yard at the cemetary at which the first meeting house of the Oak Church of Christ.  We are well grounded in the community, and many of our members are active in other county-wide organizations like 4-H, Fair, girls-scouts, and many school related acitivities.  The age range of the Oak Church of Christ is from zero into the nineties, and there are several young people and young married couples that are active.

If you are looking for people who are perfect, never sin, never show hypocracy, and always friendly this is not the place for you.  The truth is that we sin, are not perfect, sometimes show ourselves hypocrital, and are moody, but those are areas in which nearly all people of conviction have room to improve.  We are not perfect but we are perfected; we are not sinless, but we are saved; and we are not sinners because we have died to sin and have been washed in the blood of Christ to walk anew with him, Rom 6.

We partake of the Lord's Supper each and every Sunday, the Lord's Day, and we also give back to God a portion of what He has trusted to us as His stewards to support the work of the Oak Church of Christ locally.  We support children that have been abandoned, neglected, and abused through our work with the Morrilton children's home, The Southern Christian Home, with our time, money, talents, and prayers.  We sing, pray, give, partake of the Lord's Supper, and study on a weekly basis as God's Word commands, and we meet in the mid-week for a Bible study according to our age-groups.  We on occasion get together and eat meals as a large family, and anyone regardless if they brought anything are asked and encouraged to stay for the fellowship.
