| Tuesday, February 29, 2000 at 08:51 PM (CST) Hi well we took Jordyn to Childrens' today, and she is still in for the trial! They drew blood for the trial! 14 Cc's! Her WBC is up, it's at 34,000, yesterday it was at 28.8, but that could because of the pneumonia, so once she gets it licked, we pray they will be back down! We got some info on the CMA-676, the clinical trial she will be going through, well we feel good about about! The side effects are minimal, chills, fevers, shakes, less likely things: liver problems, kidneys', etc.... These are all side effects from other chemos' so we feel this is what she needs. Remission is a possibility, so we feel that as long as she can make it to March 14, which is when it is supposed to start at Childrens'. We just need for her WBC to stay down! Well, that is really the only news we have, I take her into Walter Reed tomorrow again, they will check her counts again and see if she needs any transfusions. i will let you know! Keep praying! oh, sorry I almost forgot, she seems to be feeling better! She is eating things that she has always liked normally, like Pretzels, and Fruit Roll Ups! i believe the antibiotics is working! Talk to you all tomorrow, and don't forget if you are here reading this, go to the guestbook and sign, even if it is just to say, HI! we read them to Jordyn when she feels well and it lets us know who is there and caring! Thursday, March 02, 2000 at 08:48 PM (CST) Hi everyone we went to Walter Reed today and we got good news! Jordyns' counts are as follows! WBC: 9.5, yes that is right, they are back down and close to normal!!!!!!! Normal is 8,000 Crit: 20 Plateletts: 14, she had to get some today! Overall she is doing really good and she is feeling so much better than she has for the past week and a half! Today while we were at WR she played in the playroom, she played in the play house and colored, she played with the cash register. She actaully said good-bye to the staff today! When we came home tonight and she ate! Ate a lot! She has ate mac-n-cheese, pretzel, pasta, and a hotdog! She played with crayons, markers, glitter glue, chalk, and scissors! She had so much fun!!!!!!! Over all this has ben a great day! We are happy and we are not giving up on Jordyn! WE love her so much! Also, Jordyn is a Featured Kid on another site, please go see it! It is: http://www.makeachildsmile.org/ Keep praying for Jordyn which I know you are! Saturday, March 04, 2000 at 07:33 PM (CST) Hi well here is just a quick update of the weekend so far! Jordyn is doing great still! Whew!!!!! :) She has been eating good and in good spirits! We would like to thank all of you who sign the guestbook everyday, you don't know just how much we apperciate it. When you sign in remember to sign your name, otherwise we don't know who you are!!!! :) And if any of you actually know me, you know what a nosey person I am and I really like to know who it is viewing the sight! I am going to to try to add new pictures here in a few, so bare with me, this will be the first time I do it with out my Mom here with me to walk me through it! Wish me luck! We plan on going to church in the morning, so I know that we will be lifted up tomorrow! Please have a wonderfully blessed day and week! I will be doing another update on Monday, when we get home from Walter Reed! Keep praying for Jordyn!!!!! Never give up the Faith that the Lord will give us a miracle for Jordyn!!!! Monday, March 06, 2000 at 09:07 PM (CST) Hi all well today we went to Walter Reed. Jordyn needed Red-packed blood cells, aka blood! Her plateletts are doing ok for the day, they were at 29,000, they figure by Friday she will need them, so we will draw her labs Wed., evening and they will tell us by Thursday if she needs them. Her spleen has gone down, so that is good news. Her WBC is at 8.9, so she is finally once again in the normal range for that, not saying the leukemia is gone, we are still praying that GOD lifts it from her body through his miracles. As far as we know the trial is still on to start next Tuesday, March 14, please continue to pray that it does start and that Jordyn stays in the criteria, which is her WBC is under 30,000 and that she has no leukemia blasts in her CNS ( central nervous system) aka spinal fluid! They will need to do a BMB ( bone marrow biopsy) and a LP, aka spinal tap. Remember if there is ever anything any of you do not understand, please e-mail me and just ask, I have no problem expaining and answering questions, at least then I know you have the correct info! :) We went over to our neighbors house tonight for dinner, Cindy and Scotts' they have a 2 1/2 and a almost 1 year boys, and we had roast, potatoes, carrots , rice, and green beans: It was GREAT!!! But let me tell you the best part of dinner: Jordyn ate two big servings of roast!!!!!!!!!!!! HIP-HIP-HORRAY!!!!!! She also ate some green beans and had a bowl of Rocky Road Ice cream and 2 bowls of Oatmeal and Bannanas Cereal! She is definately eating better, we pray she puts back on some wieght! Actually I don't think I posted about this, but Jordyn has lost a lot of wieght in her arms and legs, she has some extra skin hanging on her! It's very hard to look at! But she is getting to look a little better and if she keeps eating like this there is no doubt in my mind that she wil get fatter arms and legs! :) Well, that is all for tonight, in case you haven't checked we have 3 new pics up, so go check them out! I will change them out in 2 weeks! Keep praying for Jordyn, for the leukemia to leave her body, for the trial to begin on March 14, and for her WBC to be under 30 and no blasts in her spinal fluid! GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU! PS, don't forget if you are here, go ahead and sign her guest book I don't care if you come everynight, sign it and let us know you were here and thinking of Jordyn, we tell her these things! Plus we print off the pages and put them in a scrapbook for Jordyn, so when she is old enough she will see just how many people love her and always have! Friday, March 10, 2000 at 08:09 PM (CST) Hi everyone, well we went to WR yesterday, Jordyn needed a pump up of plateletts. She is doing good, we will go back on Monday and check her counts! We are planning on going to Childrens' on Tuesday, but we have to wait to see if we even need to. As far as they know the trial is still ago, but they are on-call too! So I will let you all know what is going on! Jordyn has discovered that she likes Fruit Loops! She had about 5 bowls today! She of course still eating her mac-n-cheese as normal!!! We will kep you updated, and let you know how Jordyn is doing! Keep sending out your prayers for baby J! And for those of you who have not checked it out, Jordyn is a FEATURED CHILD on the web-page: Make A Child Smile, just go to: http://www.makeachildsmile.org there you will read about not only Jordyn but 2 other children who are fighting for their lives! This is a wonderful site, and Alex, the creator is a wonderful person! There is a PO Box on it so if anyone who wants to send Jordyn anything, please go there! Keep sending up those prayers! Monday, March 13, 2000 at 02:52 PM (CST) Hi, well we went to WR today and Jordyn has a CBC drawn, and her counts are lookin' good! OK so here goes: WBC-8.1 now if only the leukemia wasn't in there, that would just be perfect! :) Crit--23.7 for those who don't know that is ok, kind of low, but not low enough to need a blood transfusion globin-8.2 that goes with the above, low but not too low! :) Plateletts- 21 that is low also, but not low enough to need a transfusion! So, we had virtually a quick day there! I decided that Jordyn has had so many blood and platelett transfusions, it is time that I donated something, so I went and donated blood today, that is the first time I have ever donated blood! I have donated plasma, many a times, when I was in college and needed money to go party on, but that was then! At least now, I know what it was I was doing it for! Well, I will let you all know what we find out tomorrow, whether or not trial is going to start or not! Pray that it is!!!! Ok thank you to everyone who continues to pray for Jordyn and please keep praying for her! Tuesday, March 14, 2000 at 11:38 PM (CST) Hi everyone, I am sorry that this is so late going in, I just didn't do it! I was lazy, sorry! well, the trial didn't open up today, so we are still waiting. That is really all we know. We wish that it would have started today, but there is nothing we can do about that! I can say that we are not giving up. I can say that I honestly feel that this CMA-676 clinical trial is what Jordyn is meant to go on, I feel this is what will heal her body! I just ask that all of you keep Jordyn in your prayers. I will admitt that I am scared, but that is my life, I live in fear everyday! I know that God is watching over us, and that he will protect us. Thank you for keeping Jordyn in your prayers, we ask that the Lord lift the leukemia out of Jordyns' body. Thank you all and keep sending her your love! Thursday, March 16, 2000 at 04:27 PM (CST) Hi everyone, Well I will begin with the not so good news first, the CMA-676 trial is gone! We were informed today that the FDA and researchers behind the trial have found that in patients that are only out of bone marrow transplant less than 6 months, that it is toxic. So Jordyn is not eligible! I called NIH and asked them if there was anything for Jordyn and they thought possibly, but just a few minuttes ago I got off hte phone with the dr and it's a no. The trial was with Arsenic and it's a phase one and they will be finding out with it what a safe dose is, and so it won't be safe for Jordyn, they don't even know if it would work, so we are out of medical options as far as we know. I am praying that the Lord sends us a miracle of good health for Jordyn, and that he lifts the leukemia out of her body and allows her to live for many more decades to come and allow us the blessing of having her in out lives for many years. Well, I will go for now, I just ask that you all continue to pray for Jordyn. Pray like you have never prayed before! SO HARD!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! Jordyn deserves to live!!!!!!!!! I will give an update later in the week. Tuesday, March 21, 2000 at 07:55 PM (CST) Hi all, Well the update for today is: we drew Jordyns' CBC yesterday and her ocunts are as follows: WBC- 34.4 RBC-2.3 Hemoglobin-6.6 Crit-20.3 Plateletts-18 Her dr was only going to pump her up with blood at first but we asked that he pump her up with plateletts too, so that we wouldn't have to come back for the rest of the week! So he did. She was not thrilled at all to say the least that she not only had to stay to get the 30 minute infusion of plateletts, and then the 2 hour infusion of blood. She threw a good 30 minute fit! Not enjoyable. Well, ok, a little, because she had the energy and will to throw a fit! :) We take what we can get! :) She is still eating very good, she has decided she quite enjoys corn! yesterday, I made my and Jordyns' fave, Tuna Yuck, are you all ready to read the recipe? It's mac-n-cheese, tuna ( i use only a spoon full) a 10 oz can of creme of mushroom, and a can of peas! Anyways, it's quite good! Jordyn ate all the peas out of it! She ate the ones from my plate and I kept having to go and get her more and then she would eat all of the peas and want "more"! Hey no complaints here! They are good for her. I kow that next time Aunt Misty would like to join her with eating the peas! :) yum-yum, huh? ha-ha Anyways, she is still feeling pretty good, she was really playing this evening and loved having her finger and toe nails painted! Well, that is all from this homefront! Oh, we are going to have Jordyn's b-day party this Sat! It is from 2-4! We are qutie excited, tomorrow I have to go and price ice-cream cakes! Lets hope they are not too expensive, otherwise, it's just the old fashioned ice-cream and cake! Either way will work out fine! We are going with the Pooh theme, of course! Keep praying for Jordyn, we ask that the Lord take the leukemia out of Jordyns' body, and leave her here on the EARTH! God Bless all of you Tuesday, March 21, 2000 at 07:55 PM (CST) Hi all, Well the update for today is: we drew Jordyns' CBC yesterday and her ocunts are as follows: WBC- 34.4 RBC-2.3 Hemoglobin-6.6 Crit-20.3 Plateletts-18 Her dr was only going to pump her up with blood at first but we asked that he pump her up with plateletts too, so that we wouldn't have to come back for the rest of the week! God Bless all of you Oh and last reminder if you are here reading this, please sign the guestbook! Thanks Saturday, March 25, 2000 at 05:21 PM (CST) Hi well first of all, we had Jordyns' birthday party today! It was great! We had 3 other families here, so it wasn't too overwhelming for her! She recieved wonderful gifts! She had an Ice Cream Cake with "Pooh" on it! They played with bubbles! She ate Dorittos and Ranch dip! She ate quite a bit of it!!!! Over all a very good day! So to those who attended, thank you! This was the party we had hoped for last year, but instead had to spend in the hospital! :) Well, now to yesterday! Yesterday was Jordyns' 1 year anniversary of being dignosed with AML leukemia! That may seem to some of you like a sad day, but for us it is an achievement! That is one year that we were so unsure of what we were in-store for! What a year it has been! A year of joy, fear, loneliness, friendship, and overcoming everything that I never dreamed we could. It has been a good and bad year all in one! Those who are fighting this battle, know what I mean, for those who aren't, but are "through" us, just think that when you tell us, "wow, I don't know how you do it" think of it this way, 1 year ago, I didn't think I could, and I sure didn't want to! But, we had no choice! Jordyn is my little girl, and I love her so very much, I couldn't just give up and let her go through this journey alone! So here we are. We have found out in this past year, who our friends are, who loves us whole-heartedly,and who were only very good acqaintances! I am happy to say I have quite a few wonderful friend, sadly I know that some who I thought were good friends are less, but I feel I am better off knowing the truth. I pray that no one that I love ever has to go through this journey first handed, but if you do, I am HERE FOR YOU! I now know that we have to take everyday, "One Day At A Time!" I didn't know the kind of strength my daughter had in her, and let me tell you, she is such an amazing little girl! I think that most adults do not have near the strength that Jordyn has. This is one strong girl! She has little fear, and what she does have is vital to her survival I believe. We were told in February, that Jordyn probably wouldn't make it to her Birthday, and here we are! We have a strong faith in God, we know that he will take care of Jordyn, of all of us. She is his daughter, long before she was given to us! I do have to remind myself of that. I believe that the Lord is keeping Jordyn alive, and will not let her join him until he decides it is time. I pray that is in another oh, 60-70 maybe even 90 years! I know that through the Lord our Savior anything is possible! We will not give up yet, I know that the Lord will tell me when it is time! Not until then, though! I am asking that who ever is reading this not give up on Jordyn or any of the other people fighting for their lives, either from Cancer, a blood disorder, a car wreck, AIDS! What ever it is, do not give up on them. So do NOT give up on Jordyn. Trust in the Lord and he will take of Jordyn and all of us! Praise him everyday! Thank him for the air that we breathe, for the people in our lives, for our own life, it is precious and rare! We have so much to be thankful for. Don't let some horrible event in your life make you change, like your child being dignosed with cancer! Live each day as if it could be your last or your loved ones last, then you will have no regrets! Though I want nothing more than for Jordyn to live, if she doesn't beat this disease, I know I have no regrets, I know that I love her the way I am supposed to. i know that I tell her everyday that I love her. I want those to be the last words she hears, before I leave for the gym, or go to bed at night, or before she takes her nap. Those words are so little, but are so BIG! They say more than any other words! I know that, I know how much she means to me and I show her how much I love her! I live each day the best I can with her, that is the important thing. Material things do not show Jordyn my love, they show that I want to give her things that make her happy, but it doesn't show love. Love is sitting and coloring together, or reading her a story, or simply rocking her to sleep. Jordyn really loves her feet rubbed, and when we rub her feet, she knows we love her, it's the little things in life that mean so much! Oh I forgot to update you all on what we did Wednesday night! She went to the circus! The Ringling Brothers; Barnum and Bailey Circus came to the MCI Center in Washington DC this week, we got tickets from Special Love! It was so wonderful!!! Jordyn absolutely adored it!It was great!!! She was so excited! Also, she ate some nachos and a half a bag of cotton candy!!! Yum-YUM!!! Well, continue to pray for Jordyn and THANK the LORD for each day we have! GOD BLESS YOU! Wednesday, March 29, 2000 at 04:25 PM (CST) Hi all! We took Jordyn to Walter Reed today! Here are her counts! WBC: 3.6 Hemoglobin: 22 Plateletts: 52 We are laying off the hydroxyurea, she will be only getting 1 a day instead of 1 one day, and 2 the next day and vice versa! She is feeling pretty good! Yesterday she ate a whole pack of GS Thin Mints cookies! She is also into corn right now! She ate some crackers and cheese today at WR, and a whole hambugar! For those of you who have been to Walter Reed and know how large they are, you know for a little girl Jordyns' size that is quite a feast! We were thrilled and astonished! hee-hee!! Well, tomorrow is the BIG DAY! Tomorrow Jordyn is turning 2, I ask that ALL of you sign her page and wish her a happy b-day1 If anyone would like to send her a card via snail mail, please send it to the PO box address on the page, or send her an electronic card! I recommend going to: www.angelwinks.webby.com. It is a beautiful site! Also don't forget only 2 more days of Jordyn being a "Featured Kid" on Make A Child Smile! Just go to: www.makeachildsmile.org it's a great place, I hope that you will all support it and send cards not just to Jordyn, but to the other children who are featured! Well, I will give an update on her tomorrow. We will be having a small family party together tomorrow evening! I will be making her a small cake and giving ehr the rest of the gifts from us, a few from MACS, and from her grandparents! Well, I ask that you all continue to pray for Jordyn and for you not to give up on her! She is of course our pride and joy, and everything I could ever ask in a daughter. God loves me very much to allow me to give birth to such a wonderful child! We thank GOD everyday that he blessed us and we will continue to be thankful always! In Jesus Name, love to you all! |
