A contemporary flute player for over ten years, ANDREW THOMAS (Navajo) was born and raised in Gallup, New Mexico--Rock Springs Chapter--and currently resides in Albuquerque. Though he has had no formal musical training, he performs mostly his own compositions, playing by ear and more importantly, by heart. His intention is to be a "flute keeper," like a pipe carrier. His flute playing has allowed him to travel the world and connect with people of all cultures. Andrew believes his journey on this earth is focused on preservation of Native ways and the protection of all human rights. Performing at numerous venues across the globe, he has also emceed and collaberated with other artists on stage and in the recording studio. Andrew has appeared in video, television and film productions, and has been the subject of newspaper and magazine articles. |
