“Friendship”, from Level 4 of the Eeman Reading Series |
INTRODUCTION
The concept of friendship is best summarized
with the following quote from the Quran :
“True believers, both men and women, are
friends to each other. They hold dear
what is just and forbid what is evil.
They attend to their prayers and pay zakat,
and obey God and His messenger. On
these, God will have mercy. He is
Mighty, Wise.”
Choosing friends whom help you to be your
best, look out for your well being, are truthful and keep their promises,
and whom are caring and have the capacity to forgive, are the best friends to
choose. In Islam, friendship is a close
bond, and not something to be made for the purpose of personal benefit only, nor is it made
“just to fit in a crowd”.
