I'm visiting a chronicler to possibly see if my past can tell me how I wound up in my current predicament. Normally I don't like to talk about my past, but it might just improve my future, Who am I? That's a good question, I don't really know myself. My name? I can tell you that much. It's Drannus Erasmus Kellroth.
To give you an idea of what my early life was like for me, I'll need to describe my family. The structure is typical, but the members are anything but. My parents, Drakis and Tamaria Kellroth, were not typical in any sense other than the fact that they loved each other and their children, and that they did their utmost best to provide for us and bring us up right. I wonder where they went wrong with me?
My father was not your typical working dad. Come to think of it, he wasn't typical in any sense of the word. He was the very first anthro black dragon, but not pure black dragon. His mother was an electric dragon, and a psychic messed with his genes when he was in the egg, which would account for his unique appearance. His other claim to fame is the fact that he was the first halfbreed anthro to have a child through purely biological means. He was a bodyguard for Sargasso, and was home most of the time. Occasionally he would take a bounty hunting job, and would always end up in the hospital afterwards.
My mother was never home much, although when we were young my father would take us to see her whenever she was available. Most of the time she did not get home until we were in bed, and she usually was busy over the weekends. She was genius, having entered medical practice at the age of nineteen, which I think is a record. She followed in her mother's footsteps, and it was a good thing, too, since my father usually got hurt in his lines of work.
One would think that it would not be possible for a mountain dragon to have the children of a black dragon/ electric dragon cross, but my mother managed to churn out three of us as a set of triplets. I am the oldest, having hatched first by a second, a fact that to this day I have not let my siblings forget. My sister was right behind me, and my brother a minute later.
My sister, Angeline, is your sweet little girl archetype. But, under the layers of sweetmess is a strong-willed and headstrong female. She was the only one ever able to keep our brother in line whenever our parents were not around.
Darius was, and is, a typical prankster, even as a toddler. From the moment he could transform into an anthro at the age of three, a year behind me and Angeline, he was playing pranks. I still remember his first one. He kept on flicking my tailblade without me being able to catch him. I never saw him do it, so I couldn't prove it was him, although I KNOW he flicked my tailblade. I'll never forget it, not even if I exist until doomsday this way.
We lived in a house in Yann City's suburbs, pretty close to our grandparents. They were our maternal grandparents, our father's parents having died when he was seventeen. David and Margaret were the only typical ones in the family, doting mountain dragon grandparents who felt as if it was their God-given duty to spoil us rotten. We lived in a predominantly true-dragon area, with our aunt's home close by. She was our father's first cousin, and was also a mountain dragon. She was Kia Rance, the keyboard player for Sargasso. My father liked having her and her husband, Pik Rance, an amphibian, near to where we lived. I remember playing with my cousin Ralf many a time when they were at a concert and Dad was on guard duty.
Nothing really noteworthy happened until I was six years old. I had just started school, and a friend of mine had been captured by an enemy of her father. Guess I'll start there.
