I've been a little overweight since I had my first child 39 years ago. (Wow, that's been a long time).  During the past two years I have become a lot overweight due to a thyroid disorder and an increasing problem with depression.

 

Recently my doctor prescribed a medication that is supposed to help you lose weight by blocking the fats.  He said it is safe and effective but has some unpleasant side effects especially is you eat much fat.  He understands that I need help because a foot problem and back problem prevent me from exercising enought to help me lose the weight.

 

I took the prescription to the pharmacy and they told me that my insurance won't pay for it.  So......I went home and thought about it for a while.  My husband reminded me that he had to ask his doctor to write a letter to the insurance company before they would approve paying for one of his meds. 

 

I decided I would like to see if I could tolerate the medication before contacting the doctor again.  So.....I went back to the pharmacy and asked them to fill the prescription with only 10 pills.  I paid for them and they are expensive!

 

This is my third day of taking Xenical and so far I'm not doing too bad with it.  I am having quite a few stomach cramps.  Owwwww..............

I'm going to give it a few more days before contacting my doctor to write a letter. 

 

I wish these problems with insurance companies didn't exist.  I hate the hassle.  I can't afford to take this medicine if they won't pay for it.  I know there are a lot of folks who have the same problem.  I'm really tired of it!!!
